Frause, a Seattle-based full spectrum communications firm, hired Laura Figueroa as an account supervisor. Figueroa has 16 years experience in marketing, public relations and management, and was communications manager for the Texas Access to Justice Foundation in Austin, Texas.
South Seattle Community College hired Jean Hernandez as vice president for instruction. Hernandez has 25 years experience as a teacher, counselor, director and administrator, and was recently executive vice president for student learning at Cascadia Community College.
The Seattle office of Stoel Rives hired Bryan Anderson as an associate in the Litigation Group. Anderson was an associate at Dykema Gossett in Detroit.
Law firm Williams Kastner has formed a Tribal Sports & Entertainment Law Practice Team. It will be led by Debora Juarez, Gabriel Galanda and Julio Carranza. The team will advise tribal and non-tribal clients throughout Indian country on a range of sports and entertainment law matters.

Hitachi Consulting in Seattle hired Michelle Bowman, Rebecca Lashley and Kim Tamblyn as managers in the Customer & Channel Solutions Practice. Bowman has 20 years experience and was director of marketing at VMC/Volt in Redmond. Lashley has 16 years of marketing experience and worked with Terex Construction. Tamblyn has 18 years experience and was vice president of marketing for Screenlife.
The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce hired Deb Anderson as vice president of sales and marketing. Anderson was director of finance and development with Washington Vocational Services.
Woodland Park Zoo hired David Schaefer as the zoo's first director of public affairs. It the newly created position, Schaefer will oversee the zoo's communications, media relations, government affairs and community relations departments. He was recently assistant director of public affairs for the Port of Seattle.

The Port of Tacoma promoted Martyn Adamson to director of information technology. He is responsible for the planning, management and use of IT throughout the port. Adamson joined the port in 2003 as manager of IT technical services.
Hadley Green Creates, a Seattle-based full service marketing agency, hired Kirsten Bell as account director and Erin Petrie as account manager. Bell has 10 years experience and recently owned and operated a public relations agency in Kirkland. Petrie has five years of experience and was at Richmond Public Relations.
Western Washington University hired Steven VanderStaay as vice provost for undergraduate education. VanderStaay, an English professor at Western, will serve a two-year term and has been at WWU since 1995. He succeeds Kris Bulcroft, who left the position to be provost and vice president for academic affairs at Franklin College Switzerland in Lugano, Switzerland.
Bothell-based Neah Power Systems, a developer of fuel cells for military, industrial and consumer portable electronic devices, hired Stephen Wilson as the chief financial officer of the company. Wilson has been controller since April. He succeeds David Barnes who resigned.
