Seattle-based BizXchange, a business-to-business barter exchange, hired Jason Richards as director of sales and marketing. Richards was formerly sales manager for Booth Creek Ski Holdings at The Summit at Snoqualmie.
Seattle-based Pure Audio hired Kathy Levin as studio manager. Levin worked in the production industry for 25 years and was director of CD-Rom talent at Microsoft, a radio producer at the Bon Marche and production coordinator at Hoyt's Greater Radio.
North Seattle Community College hired Barbara D. Hack as director of nursing. Hack worked at South Seattle Community College where she was the interim co-director of nursing and on the faculty. Hack has also been a school nurse in Seattle Public Schools.

Columbia Hospitality, a Seattle-based hospitality management and consulting firm, hired Mary Chapman as marketing manager. Chapman was director of membership and marketing at the College Club of Seattle.
Wesley Homes hired Kari E. Keller as executive director. Keller was associate director of annual funds for Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. Wesley Homes is a Des Moines-based nonprofit providing retirement communities and a network of services for older adults.
The Port of Tacoma hired Alyce Benge as contracts manager, responsible for the management and oversight of construction contracts. Benge was director of purchasing services for the Issaquah School District.
Career Education Corp. of Hoffman Estates, Ill., announced the launch of Kitchen Academy Seattle, a professional culinary school. The 19,700-square-foot school is in Tukwila. Bruce Edwards, recently director of food and beverage at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Portland International Airport, is school president. Gene Fritz, previously executive chef and culinary educator at Washington State University, is director of education.

Berk & Associates, a Seattle public policy and management consultancy, hired Jennice Hyden, Teresa Branch and Michele Eakins. Hyden is marketing coordinator and has worked with Arai Jackson Ellison Murakami and AMEC Earth & Environmental. Branch is controller and has worked with Eclipse Engineering and Northwest Industrial Contractors. Eakins is office coordinator and worked as a legal assistant for McCune, Godfrey & Emerick.
Frause, a Seattle-based full spectrum communications firm, promoted Nathan Hambley to account supervisor. Hambley was a senior account executive at Frause for two years prior to his promotion and has worked in communications since 2001.
Randall PR hired Kelsey Simmons as account executive and Callie Snyder as public relations coordinator. Simmons has worked at Hill & Knowlton and at Beauty.com. Snyder has worked as a public relations coordinator for the summer Seafair festival in Seattle.
The city of Bothell hired Joe Beck as city attorney. Beck has 12 years of municipal law experience with the last five as Auburn's assistant city attorney.
