Bellevue-based CFO Selections, a CFO services company, hired Carolyn Scurrell and David Saporta as senior associates to its professional services practice. Scurrell was CFO for Andrews Space, an integrator of aerospace systems and developer of advanced space technologies. Saporta has served as CFO and corporate controller for large companies with international operations.
The Seattle office of law firm Carney Badley Spellman hired Emilia Sweeney. Sweeney was a shareholder at Lane Powell in Seattle.
Washington State University will host its sixth annual “WSU in Seattle” event during the weekend of Aug. 29-31. Seattle-based Jones Soda promoted Michael O'Brien as chief financial officer. O'Brien replaces Hassan Natha. O'Brien was chief financial officer and vice president of finance for Pyramid Breweries in Seattle.
Seattle Symphony hired Stephen Baker as vice president of marketing and audience development. Baker was with Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, where he was the associate executive director.

Arbor Village, a continuing care retirement community in Kent, hired Brian Prouty as director of sales and marketing. Prouty has eight years of experience in sales and marketing specific to the senior health care industry. He held positions with the YMCA of Greater Seattle and King County Boys & Girls Clubs. Arbor Village is owned and operated by Cascade Living Group.
The Seattle office of law firm Rohde & Van Kampen hired Gregory Schwartz as senior attorney. Schwartz will work in the areas of intellectual property, securities arbitration and business litigation. He was an attorney at McNaul Ebel Nawrot & Helgren.
Bellevue-based GA Creative, a graphic design and marketing firm, hired Julie Burke as marketing strategist and writer. Burke has 15 years of marketing communications and community relations experience. She was vice president of business development at Mind Opera, a multi-media design firm.
Brown Bear Car Wash celebrated its 50th anniversary last Thursday. It operates 38 car washes in Washington and a large network of gas stations and convenience stores.
