Newman Dierst Hales, a tax and accounting CPA firm in Seattle, hired Jon Martin as senior tax manager, Roen Ako as tax senior and Dennis Foo, Kimberly Albers and Nancy Rizzo as tax associates. Martin was a tax manager for Voldal Wartelle & Co. in Bellevue. Ako was an assurance senior associate with Grant Thornton in Seattle. Foo served in the military. Albers worked for the Washington State Department of Revenue. Rizzo was a controller for Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson in Seattle.

Virginia Mason Medical Center hired Carolyn Corvi as chair of the Virginia Mason Health System and Virginia Mason Medical Center Board of Directors. Corvi is vice president/general manager of airplane programs at Boeing.
