Seattle-based Columbia Hospitality promoted Alan Stephens to general manager of Talaris Conference Center in Seattle. Stephens has been with the company for three years and was assistant general manager of the Salish Lodge.
Revel Consulting, a Bellevue-based business and IT consulting firm, hired Arif Samad as senior associate. Samad has 10 years experience in designing and implementing IT-based business solutions, and will lead Revel's solutions integration efforts as part of the firm's emerging Software as a Service Practice.
Weyerhaeuser Co. hired Anne Giardini as president of the company's Canadian subsidiary, Weyerhaeuser Company Limited. Giardini joined the company in 1994 and will continue to be based in Vancouver, B.C. She replaces Craig Neeser, who retired.
Lynn Beck has been named general manager at the Pacific Place shopping center in downtown Seattle. She has been marketing manager at Pacific Place since it opened in 1998. Beck has 20 years experience in retail marketing, public relations and community partnerships.

Jamila A. Johnson, an associate in the Seattle office of regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, is the new associate editor of De Novo, the official publication of the Washington State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. Prior to joining Schwabe, Johnson worked as a freelance writer for various Seattle-based magazines.
The Seattle office of law firm Stoel Rives hired Lori E. Romley and Darcie E. Durr as of counsel and associate, respectively, in the firm's Litigation Group. Romley was of counsel at O'Melveny & Myers in Menlo Park, Calif. Durr was an assistant city attorney for the city of Bellevue.
Bainbridge Island-based American Marine Bank's Barbara Kaye, chief credit officer, has completed the Pacific Coast Bankers School Management Institute program. The three-year master's level program is offered to senior bank executives. Kaye joined American Marine Bank in 2005.

The Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas announced Leslie Womack, director of sales at Mayflower Park Hotel, and Rick Simonson, senior book buyer at Elliott Bay Books have joined its board of directors. Both have been involved with the forum, a nonprofit whose mission is to present and produce African American cultural programs that encourage thought and debate, for years.
Washington State University hired Thomas Henick-Kling as director of the viticulture and enology program. Henick-Kling is an international leader in wine research and education and is currently professor of enology and director of the National Wine and Grape Industry Centre at Charles Sturt University in Australia, and also worked at Cornell University for 20 years. He will begin work at WSU in March 2009.
Spokane-based Signature Genomic Laboratories hired Roger Schultz as laboratory director. Schultz was associate director of cytogenetics of Veripath Laboratories at the University of Texas Southwestern, where he worked for 15 years.
Big Canvas, a Bellevue-based technology firm that created the PhotoShare application for the iPhone, hired Adam Goldblatt as its chief operating officer. Goldblatt spent the past two years consulting on business and legal services and was previously chief operating officer and general counsel for Phantom Entertainment.
