Seattle-based Hacker Group hired Scott Fasser as digital account director. Fasser was director of digital marketing solutions at Optify. Hacker is a digital and direct marketing agency.
The Washington Wine Industry Foundation will offer scholarships for students interested in viticulture or enology for the 2013-2014 academic year. Applications must be postmarked by June 1. The program is open to high school seniors or graduates and college students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university viticulture and/or enology program. Scholarships are the Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers Scholarship, Walter J. Clore Scholarship and the S.W. (Bill) Preston Scholarship.
The Washington D.C.-based Federation of Tax Administrators said Janet Shimabukuro, assistant director of the Washington State Department of Revenue Taxpayer Services Division, won the 2013 Harley T. Duncan Award for leadership and service. The federation is an association of tax and revenue departments in 50 states, the District of Columbia and New York City.

Seattled-based law firm Short Cressman & Burgess hired Marjan F. Disler as associate in its environmental and litigation practice. Disler worked as a law clerk for the honorable David F. Bauman on the New Jersey Superior Court.
The Washington State University board of regents said it will rename a building, The Murrow College of Communication Addition, after Kathi Goertzen in honor of the late KOMO television anchor and WSU alumnus. She passed away last year at the age of 54. The building will now be named the Kathi Goertzen Communication Addition. Goertzen spent her career at KOMO-TV in Seattle earning a number of top honors including the Edward R. Murrow Award.
Cornish College of the Arts President Nancy J. Uscher appointed Moira Scott Payne as provost and vice president of academic affairs effective Oct. 1. Payne is program director of art and media at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland.

Walla Walla-based Banner Bank hired Jac-e Albertsen as real estate loan officer in Everett. Albertsen was a loan officer for Whidbey Island Bank. Banner Bank is a Washington-chartered commercial bank with 86 locations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
The Washington State Fair in Puyallup sold naming rights for the ShowPlex exhibition center to Sleep Country USA. For the next 10 years, the 122,000-square-foot facility will be called the Sleep Country ShowPlex. Kent Hojem is CEO of the Washington State Fair.
Renton-based Natural Molecular Testing Corp. named Michael H. Kalnoski, MD the laboratory director. Kalnoski started a FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) laboratory, and most recently worked as a medical director at several regional hospitals and laboratories in Washington and Alaska. Natural Molecular Testing is privately owned.
