The Canadian College of Construction Lawyers said it has elected Douglas Oles as an honorary fellow in the organization. He is only the fourth U.S. attorney and the first in the western states to receive this honor. Oles is a senior partner with Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker, a Seattle-based law firm.

U.S. Bank

U.S. Bank promoted Thomas Roberts to region manager and head of U.S. Bank's branch network for the Washington metropolitan region. Roberts was district manager for U.S. Bank in the San Francisco region.

Williams Brown

Portland-based marketing firm, Leopold Ketel, hired Kelly Williams Brown as copywriter in the creative department. Brown has worked as a reporter and editor in New Orleans and Oregon.

Northwest Kidney Centers

Northwest Kindey Centers gave Clint Randolph the 2013 Clyde Shields Distinguished Service Award. Randolph, a retired Boeing executive, was selected because of his service to the nonprofit. The award is named for Clyde Shields, who in 1960 became the first person in the world to receive dialysis on an ongoing basis.

Dickey's Barbecue

Sarah Forest and her son Alex opened a Dickey's Barbecue franchise at 5704 East Lake Sammamish Parkway in Issaquah on June 27. Dickey's Barbecue, based in Dallas, was founded by Travis Dickey to make slow-smoked barbecue. It has been in business for 71 years.

SNBL USA

Everett-based SNBL USA, a primate research organization that helps clients move new therapies from the lab to the market, appointed Michael Templin, PhD, DABT, as field technical director. Templin was chief technology officer at Marina Biotech and has more than 15 years of experience as a board-certified toxicologist.

Janusz

HomeStreet Bank received national preferred lender status from the U.S. Small Business Administration based on its record of working with the SBA and proficiency in underwriting and servicing SBA loans. Kevin Janusz is vice president and SBA lending manager.

Port of Everett

The Port of Everett hired John Carter as chief financial officer effective Aug. 12. Carter is a certified public accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Government Finance Officers Association, and an executive board member of the Northwest Economic Development Council. He was director of finance for the city of Bellingham.

Clark Nuber

The Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants awarded the 2012-2013 President's Award to Peter Miller, a shareholder in the audit and assurance practice at Clark Nuber, a Bellevue-based accounting firm.
