Carnation prepares for dam break

    The city of Carnation is building a flood excavation site on a hill near town. It recently bought the property to the left of the clear-cut for the facility.

    Imagine being chased from your home by a 20-foot-tall wall of water. That's the plight of those living in the city of Carnation, where a major earthquake could bust open the South Fork Tolt River Dam that is perched in the hills 16 miles to the east.
