Everett awaits events center's economic boost

Fred Safstrom, executive director of the Everett Public Facilities District, believes the new Everett Events Center that opens this weekend will become a catalyst for downtown economic development.

The $71.5 million Everett Events Center -- due to open Sept. 27 -- has proven to be a tribute to the design-build team approach to planning and managing complex projects, as well as a catalyst for downtown economic development.
