Contractors grapple over workers' comp

    An experienced pile-driver operator in Seattle can earn around $61,000 a year, according to CareerOneStop.org, a publicly funded career-information Web site.

    But that worker can expect to pay the state of Washington about $2,000 this year in workers' compensation premiums, up from $1,821 last year, and up from $1,407 in 2002.
