Rafn Co.

Joe Constance has joined the Rafn Co. as vice president of business development. In his role, Constance will be responsible for marketing and business development, including guiding image building and public relations activities. He recently returned from Cabo, Mexico, where he marketed high-end resort real estate. Before that, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Intracorp in Seattle.

D.W. Close Co.

Seattle's D.W. Close Co. has added Ron Maccario as its telecommunication manager. Maccario has over 34 years of telecommunication experience and a diverse background in the electrical industry. D.W. Close is a MYR Group company.

Corstone Contractors

Two employees of Kirtley-Cole Associates have ventured out on their own to form a new company called Corstone Contractors LLC. Owners Mark Tapert and Erin VerHoeven have over 25 years of combined experience in the construction industry. Their new company specializes in commercial and residential remodels, additions, emergency/insurance repairs and new construction. Tapert, who is Corstone's president and majority owner, served as general superintendent at Kirtley-Cole and was instrumental in forming its Special Projects Division in 2000. VerHoeven served as marketing and business development manager for Kirtley-Cole’s SPD division, and will use those skills as marketing and business development director for Corstone. VerHoeven's father Gordon Cole is one of the original co-founders of Kirtley-Cole. Cole sold his share of Kirtley-Cole last year and formed Corstone Enterprises LLC, an environmental site specialist and private development firm. Corstone Contractors will share offices with Corstone Enterprises in the Snohomish Business Park, located 1824 Bickford Ave., Suite A, in Snohomish. The company's phone number is (360) 862-8316.

Master Builders Association

The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties has signed up its 3,000th member. The milestone was reached when Chris Covington of Structural Design Associates in Everett signed up in late April. Covington was a carpenter for 12 years before returning to the University of Washington to earn a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Master Builders of King and Snohomish Counties says it is the second largest home building association in the country while Seattle is only the 11th largest housing market in the country
