Hermanson Co. senior project managers Andrea Smith and Bill Misocky were promoted to construction executives. Smith is construction executive in the Highrise, Hospitality & Office group, while Misocky is construction executive in the Tech Major Projects group. Smith has 11 years of industry experience and has been with Hermanson for eight years. Misocky has been with Hermanson for three years and has more than 40 years of experience in the industry. Hermanson is a full-service mechanical contractor based out of Kent, with offices in Seattle, Redmond, Portland and Eugene, Oregon.


Mukilteo-based UMC named Troy Turpin and Ryan Hoggatt as shareholders in the company. Turpin is UMC's development director, and Hoggatt is manufacturing director. UMC says both have been with the firm for many years and play critical roles in its current operations and future growth. Turpin has over 23 years of experience working in mechanical design and construction, with various roles in energy consulting, project management and business development. As a certified energy manager (CEM), he has been responsible for development and concept planning of large-scale projects with sustainability goals or requirements. Hoggatt has been with UMC since 2008. He is responsible for corporate manufacturing and virtual construction strategy, standards, and operation, as well as construction technology adoption and implementation. He has developed the company's prefabrication business that supports modular construction and drives efficiencies throughout the construction delivery process. UMC is a mechanical engineering, facilities maintenance and construction company.

Courtney Soyring rejoined Ascendent Demolition in Puyallup as a project manager/estimator. He started with Ascendent 12 years ago as a laborer, and has 18 years of experience in all aspects of demolition — from field work to management, including EPA mediation sites, select demo and total wrecks.
Design-build mechanical contractor MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions announced its commitment to The Climate Pledge. The company says it has been an environmental steward for decades, designing mechanical systems that are energy-efficient for developers and building owners. Signing The Climate Pledge aligns the company's external business goals with its internal goals and values. As part of the pledge, MacDonald-Miller will: regularly report greenhouse gas emissions; carry out decarbonization strategies in line with The Paris Agreement; and neutralize any remaining emissions with offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040. Marisa Zylkowski is the company's sustainable design manager.

Bear Construction Group of Lakewood joined the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. Bear makes custom wood windows and doors. It also performs trim installation and framing, as well as historic storefront restoration and replication renovation. It is a DBE, VOB, MBE and WBE contractor.
CertaPro Painters named Joey Sullivan, owner of CertaPro Painters of Seattle, one of the five finalists in the franchise system's most prestigious award — the CertaCup. Sullivan was selected out of nearly 400 CertaPro Painters businesses across North America. To be considered for this honor, nominees must practice the company's values, consistently deliver extraordinary customer service, and demonstrate growth in their residential and commercial painting business. CertaPro says Sullivan and his team put a significant emphasis on community-driven initiatives this past year, with many of the programs they supported revolving around better education and athletic and extracurricular activities for children in their area. Sullivan and his team were recognized for their accomplishments during CertaPro's annual conference last month in Carlsbad, California.
