Central Washington University, in partnership with the city of Sammamish, has opened CWU-Sammamish, a new learning center at 120 228th Ave. N.E.

In January 2016, the city asked CWU to consider providing educational programming at the former Mars Hill Church. The city purchased the 31,000 square-foot building on a 22.4-acre site in March of 2015. A survey of residents found a need for postsecondary programming and community engagement activities.

CWU-Sammamish offers general education undergraduate classes, which are open to the public, that meet Running Start criteria. High school students can enroll in tuition-free college courses to earn both high school and college credits.

It also offers a Thursday evening speaker series, continuing education and English as a Second Language classes.

The project was a joint effort of CWU's Facilities Management and Information Technology Services departments, and the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services.

Owner: Central Washington University
