Paul Cossette has been named senior vice president of M.A. Mortenson Co. and has assumed management responsibilities for the company's offices in the western United States, including California and Hawaii. He will continue to be based in the company's Bellevue office.
Independent Electrical Contractors Inc. has bestowed its 1996 National Apprenticeship of the Year Award to Don Lankhaar of Cannon Electric Co. Inc. in Ferndale. Lankhaar received the highest score among 15 contestants in a written examination and electrical installation test. IEC also elected Dale Vander Giessen, president of Lynden-based Dale's Electric Inc., to the post of national president.
The CIT Group recently announced its new web site on the Internet. CIT's homepage profiles its eight individual operating units and other information, such as industry forecasts for construction and machine tools.

Greenwood Heating & Air Conditioning recently announced its plans to open a branch office in the Tacoma area. The new branch will be managed by Michele King, who currently manages Greenwood Heating's Kirkland store. The Tacoma office is scheduled to open Feb. 1.
The Associated General Contractors of America has named two association executives to lead the organization. Stephen E. Sandherr has been named executive vice president and David R. Lukens chief operating officer. Sandherr will maintain relations with AGC's 100 chapters nationwide, coordinate legislative activities and increase involvement with business coalitions. Lukens will direct daily activities of AGC staff in Washington, D.C.

The American Concrete Pavement Association has named Donald Beuerlein chairman and Bill Davenport director of marketing. The organization also recently presented its awards for excellence in concrete pavement. Winners were: Interstate Highway Construction Inc. of Englewood, Colo.; Vee-Jay Cement Contracting Co. Inc. of St. Louis; Highway Services Inc. of Rogers, Minn.; McCarthy Improvement Co. of Davenport, Iowa; Cherry Hill Construction Inc. of Jessup, Md.; Wittwer Paving Inc. of Wichita, Kan.; and Fred Carlson Co. Inc. of Decorah, Iowa.
