Lugo Construction

Lugo Construction Inc. of Fife recently announced Bradley Howell and Marshall Butler have become principals and have been appointed vice presidents. Howell, a senior project manager, holds construction management and architecture degrees from the University of Washington. Butler, the company's director of marketing, holds marketing and communication degrees from the universities of Puget Sound and California at San Francisco.

GLY Construction

GLY Construction has hired five new employees to meet growing demands. Fletcher Beall and Mark Pesanti are superintendents, Steve Hoffmann is a field engineer, and Dan Hurley and Mike Nichols are project managers.

IMCO

Michael Hobbs has joined IMCO General Construction as a construction manager. In his new role, he leads project management teams and oversees IMCO personnel, site work, subcontractor management and project budgeting, bidding and estimating. Hobbs has over 25 years of experience in the industry. He holds a master's degree in engineering and bachelor's degree in forest engineering from the University of Washington.

Hensel Phelps

Hensel Phelps Construction Co. of Greeley, Colo., has promoted Jon W. Ball to vice president and district manager of its Northern California District Office located in San Jose. Ball has been with the company since 1984, most recently as manager of work procurement.

Fullman Co.

Jeff Lovejoy has joined the management team at Fullman Company, a Portland-based mechanical contractor. As vice president, Lovejoy will focus on business development, specifically for design-build projects. He has over 14 years of experience in the mechanical construction industry.

NAWIC

Phyllis McKenzie, owner of Phyllis McKenzie Construction and SunRay Properties, was recently named director of Region 9 of the National Association of Women in Construction. She will represent chapters in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and parts of Canada on the National Board of Directors. McKenzie is a member of the Greater Everett Chapter No. 312 of NAWIC.

MacDonald-Miller

John Rozell has been promoted to vice president at MacDonald-Miller. Rozell has been with the company since 1980, most recently as operations manager. His new responsibilities include overseeing the Seattle Operations Management Group, supervising construction accounting and developing corporate management information systems.

Nuprecon

Demolition contractor Nuprecon Inc. has hired Bill Baldwin for the newly created position of vice president of external operations. Baldwin will create, manage and direct departments of marketing, sales, risk management and government/community relations.

CPM Inc.

After nine years with Seattle architect Meng, M. Brandon Meyers has established her own firm, Construction Planning & Management Inc. (CPM Inc.). Based out of Renton, Meyers is acting as project manager for the $37 million modernization of the Mercer Island High School campus. She is planning to provide similar services to other school districts throughout the Pacific Northwest.

CFMA

Christine M. Thompson, vice president of Seven Sisters Inc. of Sedro-Woolley, was recently installed as national president of the Construction Financial Management Association for 1997. Thompson has been an active member of the association since 1985. She is past president of its Puget Sound Chapter and has held national positions as president-elect, treasurer and secretary. Other elected officers for CFMA include: Richard W. Rice of Albuquerque, N.M., president-elect; Raymond L. Dauplaise of Cranston, R.I., treasurer; and Patrick D. Monea of Lansing, Mich., secretary.

Willis Corroon

Dale Ahrens has been promoted to senior vice president in the Construction Group at Willis Corroon Corp. of Seattle. Ahrens has 12 years of experience in the industry, specializing in risk management services for construction, marine and other industries in the Pacific Northwest. He holds a degree in business administration from Seattle University.

FMI Corp.

Construction management consultant FMI Corp. has formed two new groups to serve the industry. The Risk Management Consulting Group will be managed by Steven Davis and the Turnaround/Workout Group will be managed by Jim Constance. Risk Management will address coverage adequacy, safety performance benchmarking, insurance program design, self insurance and captive insurance alternatives. Turnaround/Workout will assist contractors in recovering from financial distress and resolving financial restructuring issues. FMI is based in Denver and has offices in Raleigh, N.C., and Tampa, Fla.
