Poe Construction

Paul Ribary has joined Poe Construction as a project manager. Ribary is a 1997 graduate of the construction management program at Arizona State University.

Quantum Construction

Quantum Construction Inc. of Anacortes has logged in 90,000 accident-free hours as of July 1. The company performs both private and public projects. Its list of clients includes Paccar, GTE, U.S. West, Puget Power, the U.S. Forest Service and the Port of Anacortes.

Edifice Construction

Christopher I. Bull has been appointed a principal of Edifice Construction Company Inc. Bull joined the firm in 1984. He will assume responsibilities for business development and personnel for the Seattle-based company.

Lease Crutcher Lewis

Increased workload at Lease Crutcher Lewis has caused the contractor to add personnel and make promotions. The company has hired Tony McCreight to help manage its central storage yard; new project engineers include Adam Hagan, Ryland Halffman and Calvin Otto; Kelly Farley has returned as a jobsite administrative assistant; and Emily Hotchkiss, David White and Terri Greco have been hired as administrative assistants at the company's main office. LCL also announced Mark Portin and Ron McDonald are recent graduates of the company's ongoing training program to create field superintendents from trade foremen. Finally, the company has hired three summer interns from the University of Washington's School of Construction Management. They include Matt Rosauer, Adam Wilson and Patrick Roberts.

Evergreen Partnership

The Evergreen Partnership's board of directors has selected Ted LaDoux to be president of the non-profit association. LaDoux, the former vice president of the association, replaces Greg Schellberg, who retired two months ago. LaDoux has 25 years of experience in the forest products industry and holds a degree in forest management from Central Oregon College. The Evergreen Partnership is a non-profit trade association that promotes and serves the wood products and building materials industries.

Bennett Corp.

The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties has given 13 MAME silver awards to the Bennett Corp. and its group of companies. Included are: Bennett Homes, a single-family homebuilder, eight silver awards; First Edition Homes, a customer homebuilder, four silver awards; and Heritage Communities, a developer and builder of multifamily projects, one silver award.

Electrician classes

The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington is offering several electrical continuing education classes during September. The list includes: "Trouble Shooting," Sept. 6 in Olympia for $100; "3 Phase Transformers," Sept. 6 in Olympia or Sept. 13 in Bellevue for $100; "Grounding and Bonding," Sept. 7 in Bellevue or Sept. 21 in Olympia for $85; "NEC Update," Sept. 20 in Seattle for $85; and "Conduit Bending," Sept. 13 in Bellevue for $125. ASHRAE meeting

The Association of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers is holding a Sept. 10 meeting at The Mountaineers Club (300 Third W., Seattle). The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a workshop called "Fan, Pump and VFD Shaft Grounding Systems for Reduction of Bearing/Motor Failures," by Dan Parker of DP&A Sales of Oregon. A social and dinner will follow. The dinner presentation will be "Legal Perspectives on Project Documentation and Claim Submissions," by Doug Oles and James Nagle of Oles, Morrison and Rinker LLP. OSHA training

OSHA 10-hour training is being offered later this month by the Associated General Contractors of Washington. Class will be split into three sessions: 4:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 22. Topics to be covered include: electrical safety, scaffolding, confined space, fall protection, trenching/excavation, fire protection/prevention, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, and tools. First aid/CPR

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington is holding a first aid/CPR training session Sept. 20 at the CITC facility in Bellevue (1930 116th Ave. N.E.). It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost for ABC members is $40 for the entire program, or $30 for CPR only. Non-ABC members are charged double. The registration deadline is Sept. 12. Tilt-up symposium

The Tilt-Up Concrete Association is conducting a two-day tilt-up symposium and other events Sept. 17-20 at the Atlanta Marriott North Central in Atlanta. Symposium subjects will include marketing, design, lifting, bracing, finishes, insulated panels, chemicals, estimating, tips and techniques. Cost is $495 for TCA members and $595 for others.
