GLY Construction has hired Horst Coers as a project manager and Todd Karr as a project engineer. Horst has 20 years of experience in the construction industry and holds an electrical engineering degree from Bochum University in Germany. He is providing preconstruction services for a Microsoft campus project. Karr is providing engineering services to Northstream Development's Central Way Plaza office building in Kirkland.
Roger Wagner has been appointed as a project manager at Construction Associates. Wagner has 10 years of construction industry experience and holds a degree in building construction management from Colorado State University. He is currently working on the BioControl and Aurora IV office buildings, the Mountlake Terrace Retail Center and a warehouse for Automotive Maintenance Supply.
Lease Crutcher Lewis recently hired and promoted several employees. For the company's largest job, the Microsoft Troon Campus in Redmond, it added Jim Harteau as a field superintendent, Pat Thompson as safety coordinator and Linda Chou as a project engineer. LCL also hired Diane Grauer as a project engineer for the enlargement and renovation of the former City Light Building in Seattle. In the company's Construction Management Division, it hired Mark Humphreys as a project engineer.
Robert Nyman has joined WinEstimator as its director of sales and marketing. In his now role, Nyman will direct all sales and marketing operations, manage dealer channels for domestic and international operations, develop plans for vertical market software product applications and lead an effort to increase the company's market share. Nyman holds an MBA from City University. WinEstimator is a developer of accounting and estimating software for the construction industry.
Yakima-base Poppoff Inc. recently won two safety awards from the American Society for Concrete Construction. The contractor won Category 2B, "Specialty Contractor with 20,000 to 60,000 work hours," for its low incident rate; and the "ASCC Zero Lost Time Accident Achievement Award." Poppoff was the only Northwest contractor to be honored by the society.
The Seattle branch of United Tile has moved into a larger facility in Renton. Located at 3001 East Valley Road, the new location provides more office, warehouse and showroom space for the wholesale distributor of tile. The company's phone (425/251-5290) and fax (425/251-5047) numbers remain the same.

The Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors has elected Tom Clark president of its organization. Clark is president of Shea Construction Inc. of Spokane. Other officers elected to serve in 1998 include: Eric Brown of Eric R. Brown Construction Inc., vice president; Lonnie Cargile of Cargile Construction Group, vice president; and Bob Haney of Max J. Kuney Co., treasurer. Newly-elected members of the board of directors are: Nick Tommer of Tommer Construction Co., Ken Schwartz of Lydig Construction Inc., Chris Anderson of North Star Enterprises Inc. and Rob Crick of Winston & Cashatt Lawyers.
Kyle King, vice president of Portland-based Snyder Roofing, has been elected president of the Roofing Contractors Association of Oregon and Southwest Washington. King's responsibilities at the association include directing and overseeing its activities involved with codes and standards effecting local roofing contractors. He is also providing "hands-on" leadership on issues related to materials, safety application and unlicensed contractors.
The Associated Builders & Contractors of Western Washington has earned the Accredited Level Chapter Standard Award from its national organization. The award is given to those chapters who have achieved the highest level of member service, leadership development, and chapter management and organization. The chapter also was recognized for its excellence in membership recruitment and retention, ranking 15th of all chapters in 1997 at 89.6 percent.
Redmond-based industrial painting contractor Dunkin & Bush has opened a regional office in Kenai, Alaska. Henry Haney is the regional manager. Dunkin & Bush has additional offices in Portland and Bellingham.
