Eagle Insurance

Eagle Insurance Companies, a writer of construction and maritime workers' compensation, has hired James Grasmick as Northwest regional manager. In this new role, Grasmick will be responsible for the profitability and growth of regional operations. Eagle's northwest operating territory includes Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Utah and Idaho. Prior to joining Eagle, Jim served 10 years as the Northwest regional underwriting manager for Argonaut Insurance Company.

Willis Corroon

Jim Kesl, chairman of Willis Corroon Corp. of Seattle, has received the Golden Beaver Award for his contribution to the construction industry. Kesl was cited for his 42 years of service in the industry, including 22 years with duPont's explosives division, where he worked his way up from field representative to division head. For the next 20 years, he worked for Willis Corroon, working his way up to president and CEO in 1992. The award was presented by The Beavers, an organization founded in 1955 by a group of companies involved in dam building in the western states.

Crownover Construction

Crownover Construction has added Maureen Reilly to its project management staff. Reilly received her bachelor's degree in construction management in 1995 from the University of Washington. She worked for Howard S. Wright Construction prior to joining Crownover.

Simpson

Simpson Timber Co. has named Laurie Creech manager of sales and marketing of lumber and fiber for its Northwest Timber and Wood Products Division in Shelton. Creech is responsible for managing the sales and transportation of lumber from Simpson sawmills in Shelton and Tacoma, along with handling sales of residual products such as chips, sawdust and bark. She comes from Weyerhaeuser Co., where she was purchasing manager for the company's building materials distribution system.

Western Washington Fair Association

Thomas R. Absher was elected president of the Western Washington Fair Association by the board of directors following the annual stockholders meeting in January. Absher is responsible for overseeing events at the Puyallup Fairgrounds throughout the year. Other elected officers include: Kenneth D. Scholz, vice president; Thomas H. Tebb, secretary; and Sanford T. Shaub, treasurer.

Lease Crutcher Lewis

Joe Neuenschwander has joined Lease Crutcher Lewis as a senior project manager. Neuenschwander has 20 years of experience as a construction manager, project manager and architect. He will help anchor LCL's preconstruction efforts, with a focus on management of design/build projects. He holds a master's degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska and a bachelor's degree in architectural studies from the University of Wisconsin.

Seattle-based McKinstry Co. has received the 1999 Better Workplace Award by the Association of Washington Business. The company was cited for its workplace safety, job training and development, and innovative benefits and compensation programs. McKinstry is a full-service mechanical contractor with a branch office in Portland.
