RCI Construction

Sumner-based RCI Construction Group has promoted Christopher Zepernick to senior vice president of the combined RCI Construction Group divisions and George Norton to vice president of mechanical operations. The company also hired Brian Pranger as its Oregon business manager. Zepernick previously served as vice president/chief estimator and will continue to serve as estimating manager in his new role as business advisor. Norton is the mechanical lead in the company's development of a design-build-operate program for the environmental water treatment industry. Pranger is leading RCI's expansion into the Oregon heavy civil/utility market. He has 20 years of experience as an estimator/project manager in Oregon.

OMR

Douglas S. Oles, a partner at Oles, Morrison, Rinker & Baker, was recently elected to the national Governing Committee of the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry. With over 5,000 members, the forum is the world's largest professional association of lawyers in the construction industry. Oles previously served as editor of the forum's quarterly law journal and chairman of its Division on International Construction.

AdvanceOnline

AdvanceOnline of Seattle has partnered with Southern Building Code Congress International to create the SBCCI Online Institute, a suite of online training courses. SBCCI provides technical and educational support to governmental departments and agencies engaged in building code administration and enforcement. It also targets designers, builders and home inspectors. AdvanceOnline is a provider of Web-based training sites to help organizations comply with environmental, transportation and occupational safety and health regulations. The SBCCI Online Institute can be accessed at www.sbcci.org.

Eldorado Stone

Eldorado Stone Corp., a major manufacturer of architectural stone veneer, has formed a new company called Eldorado Stone LLC. The new company combines the parent Eldorado Stone Corp. and two of its major licensees -- StoneCraft Industries Inc. of San Marcos, Calif., and Northwest Stone & Brick of Seattle -- into one larger operating unit. The consolidation was made in order to capitalize on the synergies that exist among the different organizations and to fully utilize the employees.

Foushee & Associates

Bellevue-based general contractor Foushee & Associates has promoted three of its employees. Teddy Shiferaw and John Dolence have been promoted to project engineers and Rich Angehrn has been promoted to project manager of the Tenant Improvement department. Shiferaw graduated from the Building Engineering college of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. Dolence graduated from the University of Washington and holds a certificate from the Construction Management program. Angehrn graduated from Central Washington University's Construction Management program.

MCA

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington has awarded $1,000 scholarships to two students -- senior James Slater and junior Rick Wiseman -- in the University of Washington's Construction Management program. Slater is currently serving an internship with MCA member McKinstry Co. Wiseman was an apprentice in the mechanical industry, and has worked as a pipefitter for MCA member companies J.H. Kelly and McKinstry Co. He is a summer intern with MCA member W.A. Botting Co. Criteria for the scholarships includes exposure to the mechanical contracting industry through internships or employment, maintaining high academic standards, and being an active member in the UW MCA Student Chapter.

Cedar Shake Bureau

The Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau has announced Darlene Jacuk has left the organization as its manager. John Dziedzic, of Teal Cedar Products and former chairman of the Cedar Bureau, will serve as interim manager while the search for a replacement is conducted. The bureau is based in Mission, British Columbia.
