Seattle-based Joseph J. Jefferson & Son named Richard Jackson operations manager and Shawn Lyness sales manager. Jackson has been with the company for 14 years. Lyness is working to expand the company's customer base. Joseph J. Jefferson is a plastering contractor for the commercial and residential markets. It was founded in 1924.
Global Diving & Salvage of Seattle promoted John Juettner to operations manager of the Alaska region. Juettner has been in the commercial diving industry in Alaska for 17 years, working as a dive supervisor for the past seven. His new responsibilities include asset management, estimating, logistical support and project planning.
CCA Meridian High School from Bellingham took first place in the recent AEM Construction Challenge rally in Seattle. Lakewood High School from Marysville took second place and Dana Hills High School from Dana Point, Calif., was third. Similar rallies were held in seven locations in the U.S. and Canada, with the top three from each location advancing to the finals at the March 21 Conexpo-Con/AGG exposition in Las Vegas. The program is designed to inspire young people to explore careers in construction.
Seattle Public Utilities selected Skire Inc.'s Unifier solution to manage the municipality's construction contracts and associated documents. The system integrates with SPU's construction contract payment system, and is expected to increase the city's efficiency by providing a central repository for contract management. Menlo Park, Calif.-based Skire is a provider of cloud-based solutions for managing capital projects, facilities and real estate.

Archer Western Contractors, a non-union subsidiary of the Walsh Group working at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, was awarded OSHA Star VPP status. Archer was cited for its safety record, health management program and safety culture, which includes management support and employee involvement. In VPP, management, labor and OSHA work together to prevent fatalities, injuries and illnesses
