Several changes have been made at Turner Construction's Seattle office:
Dan Gemme relocated from the firm's Portland office, where he was vice president of operations, to become vice president of operations in Seattle;
John Edwards was promoted from business development engineer to business development manager;
Tony Toppenberg was promoted from business development engineer to chief estimator; and
Chris Beckerman rejoined as purchasing manager.
Mark Murphy, vice president of Oldcastle Materials Northwest Division, was elected president of the Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors. Murphy has been with Oldcastle for 20 years and manages Central Pre-Mix Concrete Co., Inland Asphalt Co., and Interstate Concrete & Asphalt Co. He has served on the AGC board since 2007. New Inland Northwest board members for 2011 include:
Matt Wheelwright of Kop Construction Co.,
Daniel Kuney of Max J. Kuney Co., and
Tom Gallagher of Performance Contracting.
Cascade Windows, a privately held vinyl window and patio door manufacturer, merged with Tualatin, Ore.-based Empire Pacific Windows. In a press release, Cascade President/CEO
Randy Emerson said the merger will result in expanded product selection, new markets, quicker lead-time, better research and development, and quicker delivery dates. Cascade operates plants in Troutdale, Ore., Spokane and Salt Lake City.
The Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors presented its Tom Mauer Safety Award to Bob Haskins of Dix Corp. The award is given to an individual and/or company that has an accomplished safety program, is active in the AGC Safety Committee, and assists the Inland chapter, AGC members and safety directors in the development of safety programs.

Monroe-based Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. appointed
Janet M. Kloos as human resources director. Kloos previously was HR director for an aerospace company. She holds a master's degree in human resources/organizational development.
Ferndale's Imco General Construction won the 2010 John D. Spellman Safety Award. The award is given to Evergreen Safety Council members who have significantly improved their safety programs. Imco's EMR record has been trending downward since 2007 and is currently at 0.437. Its team is led by safety managers Lisa Young and Tom Pike and vice president of operations Tyler Kimberley.
Fortune magazine ranked PCL Construction No. 38 on its 14th annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. PCL has been on the list for six straight years. The contractor was recognized for its employee-owned structure, wellness initiatives, philanthropic efforts and training programs.
