WSDOT

The Washington State Department of Transportation gave Seattle Tunnel Partners a Champion of Inclusion award for its outreach and inclusion of small and disadvantaged businesses on the state Route 99 tunnel project in Seattle. Within the first year of a six-year contract, the tunnel team awarded contracts worth $8 million to 30 qualified firms and recruited firms for design-build projects in non-traditional areas, such as architecture and design. Seattle Tunnel Partners is a joint venture of Dragados USA and Tutor Perini Corp.

Port of Seattle

The port of Seattle presented Manson Construction Co. with a Champion of Inclusion award for its commitment to using small businesses and providing contracting opportunities to small firms over several years. Manson sponsors small business training classes and seminars that educate and contribute to the success of small local firms.

Sound Transit

Sound Transit honored Parsons Brinckerhoff with a Champion of Inclusion award for its work involving small and disadvantaged businesses in Link light rail construction projects. On its two contracts, Parsons Brinckerhoff achieved 32.4 percent and 36.7 percent small and disadvantaged business participation rates, exceeding its goals.

Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker

Greenberg

Benjamin Greenberg joined Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker as an associate attorney. Greenberg holds a law degree from Boston College Law School, where he was articles editor for Boston College Law Review and co-president of the Criminal Justice Law Project. He earned his bachelor's degree from Linfield College. Seattle-based Oles Morrison specializes in construction, government contracts and public procurement.

Andersen Construction

Andersen Construction hired Steve Loudin as superintendent and Anders Bjorn as project manager. Loudin is working on the Pike Place Market Child Care renovation. He has experience as a superintendent for military, restaurant, medical office, parking garage, office tower and hospital projects. Bjorn is working on the Evergreen College Communications Building renovation. He has experience as a project engineer and project manager on school, medical, military and airport construction projects. Andersen has offices in Seattle, Portland and Boise.

Bluewave Construction

Kirkland-based general contractor Bluewave Construction named Joe Cantwell general manager. Cantwell is securing new business and managing existing projects. He has nearly 48 years of experience in general contracting, including health care, education, industrial, manufacturing, clean rooms, retail, multifamily and commercial projects. He previously was head of business development at CDK Construction.

Parr Lumber

Hillsboro, Ore.-based Parr Lumber won the Merit Award for Marketing from ProSales magazine, a national lumber publication. Parr was cited for its Remodel Road Trip campaign, which enticed do-it-yourselfers to visit a Parr store, its website or a company event to collect stickers for entry into two $10,000 remodel giveaways.
