In its Seattle office, Walsh Construction Co. hired Wayne Jackson as senior superintendent for the Washington region and promoted Alexa Zastko to marketing administrative assistant. Jackson has more than 30 years of construction experience. He is responsible for safety, quality, project schedule, budget, and job site administration and logistics. Zastko joined Walsh in 2013 as a receptionist. Walsh specializes in affordable mixed-use, multi-unit, special needs and student housing, as well as renovations and historic preservation.

New Wood Resources

David Niessner joined New Wood Resources as general manager of Omak Wood Products in Okanogan County. Niessner is managing the 90-person team at Omak Wood Products, which was formed through an agreement with New Wood Resources and the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation to restart the veneer mill in Omak, and to enter into a long-term log supply agreement from tribal-owned timberlands. He has held leadership roles in forest land management and large-scale multi-mill fiber procurement over his 35-year career.

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington elected its new board. Officers are: Mike Shinn of Shinn Mechanical, president; Jerry Bush of University Mechanical Contractors, vice president; and Mark Webster of MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, secretary/treasurer. Directors are: Stacy Johnson of Auburn Mechanical, Jeff White of Holmberg Co. and Frank Leonard of Key Mechanical. Also, immediate past president Jack Cheetham, who recently retired from McKinstry Co., was named an ex-officio board member. The association consists of union-signatory plumbing, piping and HVAC contractors.

Abbott Construction hired Paul Jentlie as talent acquisition partner, William Bacon as superintendent, Chris Young and Kyle Raschkow as senior project managers, and Michael Lucas as project engineer. Jentlie has more than 20 years of recruiting experience. He founded a boutique search firm and directed recruiting at several large general contractors before joining Abbott. Bacon has managed complex public and private projects, and is in charge of building a new medical clinic. Young has more than 30 years of industry experience with a focus in healthcare, retail and industrial projects. Raschkow has 18 years of industry experience, specializing in healthcare remodels and tenant improvements. Lucas holds a bachelor's degree in architectural studies from Washington State University and a master's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.

Scott Smith has become president and Molly Mahan a principal of W.G. Clark Construction. Smith is overseeing company operations, including project management, human resources, safety, marketing and education. He has been with the firm since 1993. Mahan joined Clark in 1999 as an intern from the University of Washington, where she earned bachelor's degrees in architectural studies, community and environmental planning, and construction management. Mike Ducey, former president, is now chairman.

Walsh Construction Co. promoted Mariah Grife to assistant project manager. Grife has been with the company for four years and has worked as a project engineer and in the estimating department. Her new duties are estimating, value engineering, job costing and schedule monitoring. Walsh specializes in affordable mixed-use, special needs and student housing, as well as renovations and historic preservations.

Seattle-based Venture General Contracting added Jeff Lawson as project manager and Todd Wingerson as superintendent in its interiors division. Lawson is overseeing office interior improvements. He has more than 15 years of experience in tenant improvements. Wingerson has more than 20 years of experience supervising renovations and tenant improvements. He has overseen projects such as Seattle's Northlake Building and Medical Dental Building, which was subsequently placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
