A new $1.8 million 15-unit apartment complex, designed to cater to the needs of the mentally ill, opened recently in West Seattle's Admiral neighborhood.
Harborview Medical Center and the Housing Resources Group, a nonprofit organization, are the developers for the project, which is located at 2614 42nd Ave. SW.
The three-story complex was designed by Stickney Murphy Romine Architects. The Rafn Co. was general contractor.
The eight one-bedroom units and seven studios feature skylights and a common area for socializing.
The four women and 11 men who will reside in Admiral House will be visited by social workers and provided with cleaning help.
The project was funded with money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, King County, the Federal Home Loan Bank, Washington Mutual, Bank of America, Key Bank and corporate foundations.
