Columbia Fitness Center

The Columbia Fitness Center opened last month in Suite 105 at Saffron Urban Village in Sammamish. The 8,000-square-foot club offers members a streamlined, high-tech look.

The fitness center features state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment with built-in Internet and television capabilities, allowing members to check e-mail, shop online or watch their favorite show while working out. It also has separate areas for a complete circuit of strength training equipment and free weights. Children of members are supervised in a staffed child care area.

BFC Frontier of Lynnwood was the tenant improvement contractor and the architect was Page & Beard Architecture and Design of Kirkland.

An existing 12-inch post-tension slab in the building presented a challenge to Page & Beard and BFC Frontier because the penetrations for plumbing had to be carefully planned and x-rayed. The club was completed in seven weeks.

Cy Oskoui is the owner and founder of Columbia Athletic Clubs. His family owns and operates neighborhood health and fitness facilities in Juanita Bay, Mill Creek and Pine Lake, as well as the Columbia Tennis Club and Columbia Super Range in Everett.
