ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A Tongass National Forest river that was damaged by clear-cut logging decades ago has been restored.
The Nature Conservancy and the U.S. Forest Service were partners in the project to repair logging damage done to the Harris River. When the project was started, one of the river's tributaries was so filled with sediment that water hadn't flowed in it for 13 years.
