MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Police in the north-central Idaho town of Moscow are warning visitors to watch out for scammers that appear to be targeting hotel and motel guests.
The department said travelers staying at local lodging establishments have fallen victim to the scam, in which a suspect calls a guest room and tries to get credit card information. The caller claims to be a worker at the hotel and says there's a problem with the credit card on file or with the payment. Then the caller asks the guest for a new method of payment, asking for the credit card number, expiration date and other information.
