    Q. We’ve all heard people who claim, “I never dream.” What are they missing?

    A. Oh, about 600 hours a year experiencing some 1,500 dreams, or 100,000 over a typical lifetime — dreams swallowed by the night, says David G. Myers in “Psychology.” Every night like clockwork, each of us passes through four or five lengthening dream episodes during which the brain waves become rapid and saw-toothed, heart rate rises, breathing becomes rapid and irregular, and eyes dart around in momentary bursts of activity behind closed lids.
