    Q. After a red light, do you accelerate faster if there's another car alongside yours? Do you eat more when dining with friends? Why might you?

    A. Typically, side-by-side drivers will cover the first 100 yards about 15 percent faster, social eaters indeed eat more, says David Myers in "Social Psychology, 5th Edition."
