When James Harris opened his art gallery in 1999 on Second Avenue between Main and Jackson he was joining an arts district in Pioneer Square, with its history and traditions like the First Thursday gallery walk.
Now, he is the first to say that his business struggles under the long shadow of CenturyLink Field, which was completed in 2002. With CenturyLink and nearby Safeco Field, he says the neighborhood has “transitioned to a place where people who would be frequenting my gallery have backed away from coming down.”
