Miller/Hull’s design for the Union Station stop in Tacoma is inspired by boat hulls. Nine large sculptures represent a ship frame, railroad wheel and Native American tools.

There's something about being first whether it's a new building type or new regional infrastructure that gives all design decisions special significance. Tacoma's two-year-old Link light rail line is a first for rapid transit, not only for Tacoma, but for the region.
