'Sell' rating may mean good time to buy

  • One expert said a lot of analysts panic and issue sell ratings even after the worst is behind at a given company.

    NEW YORK -- So much for "sell" ratings being bad news for stocks. Some downgraded shares actually outperform the market.

    Yes, lots of those stocks that Wall Street research analysts tell investors to unload fast are turning out to be the best buys around, often tallying far higher returns than those rated "buy."
