Diverging diamond near JBLM gets first southbound traffic

The new bridge, shown at top looking north in late November, increases vertical clearance and creates enough space to extend I-5 HOV lanes further south into DuPont.

Drivers are getting a taste of the new diverging diamond interchange over Interstate 5 near the Joint Base Lewis-McChord that aims to transform the famously congested stretch of roadway when it opens fully this spring.
