Boeing helps build virtual fence on the border

  • When the system is operational later this month, nine metal towers equipped with cameras, radar and sensors will patrol 28 miles of the Arizona-Mexico border.

    The first integrated mobile sensor tower was tested in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Nine of the towers have been installed near the border town of Sasabe, Ariz.

    TUCSON, Ariz. — When Elizabeth Isaman leaves the El Mirador Ranch smack on the Mexican border, she can see a tall metal tower, packed with cameras, radar and sensors about a quarter-mile away.
