    To say that the last two years have been hard on the construction industry in the Puget Sound area would probably be a bit of an understatement. As someone who works to protect the rights primarily of subcontractors and suppliers, I have seen firsthand the havoc wreaked by the housing downturn and tightening credit markets. But when times are bad, it becomes even more important for members of the construction industry to retain and protect their rights to payment.
