Low Income Housing Institute's Cheryl Chow Court has opened at 2014 N.W. 57th St. in Ballard.

The building has 50 studio and one-bedroom units for homeless and low-income seniors. Community spaces include a library, large community room, and patio garden.

Cheryl Chow Court has a number of water efficiency features including low-flow fixtures, native plant landscaping and drip irrigation. The green roof area slows rain water flowing into storm drains.

It was designed to accommodate the needs of seniors, including frail seniors, with lower counter heights, lever door hardware and roll-in showers.

Cheryl Chow Court is named in honor of former city councilmember Cheryl Chow, who was instrumental in expanding city homeless services and low-income housing.

Owner: Low Income Housing Institute

Architect: GGLO

Contractor: Walsh Construction Co.
