Zella, a new 128-unit apartment building, has opened at 429 Second Ave W., in Seattle's Uptown neighborhood.
The seven-story, 114,000-square-foot building was designed to meet LEED certification. Green features include LED light fixtures, energy-efficient heat pumps and hot water heaters, electric resistance heat in units, and a solar panel array and green elements on the roof.
Amenities include a residents lounge, fitness center, and rooftop space with dog run and fire pit.
Units range from studios to two bedrooms, with rents from $1,825 to $3,685. Some are live-work units with private entrances at grade. There are 52 underground parking stalls, and a bike room with 33 stalls.
Zella was developed using the city's multifamily tax exemption program and Mandatory Housing Affordability incentives. Over 25% of units are affordable to those earning 60% to 80% area median income.
