MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Miller Park, the Brewers' new stadium, will be the site of the 2002 All-Star game. The 2001 All-Star game will be played in Seattle's Safeco Field.
"This will be the biggest visitor and tourist event to visit the city," commissioner Bud Selig, whose daughter succeeded him as the Brewers' president, said Tuesday.
The July 9 game will generate about $70 million for the area, he said.
Miller Park will open in April, a year behind schedule.
A crane collapse delayed completion of the stadium and caused $100 million in damage.
On Dec. 1, a jury ordered two companies to pay $99.2 million to the widows of three ironworkers killed in the accident at the Miller Park construction site.
