The Port of Seattle named Arif Ghouse as the new chief operating officer for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The this role, Ghouse will lead significant projects and initiatives, including Operational Readiness Activation and Transition, Art and Innovation functions, and will be working closely with all aviation departments to provide guidance and support. The airport is currently undergoing a five-year, $4.3 billion capital project program called Upgrade SEA. This follows the openings of major projects in the International Arrivals Facility and the N Concourse expansion and modernization. Ghouse is joining SEA after eight years as the airport director of Paine Field/Snohomish County Airport. While overseeing general aviation and managing numerous services for aviation enterprises, including Boeing, Ghouse led the launch of commercial passenger service at Paine Field in 2019. The Port of Seattle owns and operates Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Fishermen's Terminal — home of the North Pacific fishing fleet — and public marinas. The Port also owns two cruise ship terminals, a grain terminal, real estate assets, and marine cargo terminals through its partnership in the Northwest Seaport Alliance.
Seattle-based Taqtile, an industrial augmented reality software platform, named Craig Olson, its chief operating officer. Olson, a longtime executive for gaming accessories company SteelSeries, will manage key partners and investor relations at Taqtile. He joined SteelSeries in 2012 as president of worldwide mobile. Leveraging augmented reality technology, Taqtile's Manifest software allows deskless workers to document maintenance and operational procedures, follow step-by-step work instructions, remotely collaborate with experts, and analyze job performance and history. Taqtile's software platform is currently being used by industrial workers around the world at organizations like the U.S. Army, Raytheon, PBC Linear, and Nokia.
Fluke, a provider of industrial tools and integrated software, hired solar applications specialist Will White. White has nearly two decades of experience designing, installing, and managing photovoltaic, wind, and solar thermal projects. As director of business development at Solar Energy International (SEI), a non-profit organization accelerating renewable energy technologies through education and technical assistance, White helped clients identify training opportunities for their teams. Prior to this role, White served as a member of SEI's curriculum team, where he focused on updating and developing course content and teaching classes in-person and online. White will spearhead Fluke's solar education initiatives, including webinars, industry event sessions and other trainings. Fluke is based in Everett.

BECU, the country’s fourth largest credit union, announced it has welcomed Rick Eielas executive vice president and its first chief data and analytics officer. In his new role, Eiel is responsible for developing and enabling enterprise data, analytic and insight capabilities that will inform and accelerate the credit union’s business strategies, execution and performance. “Rick’s extensive background paired with his ability to use data and analytics to drive member and business outcomes made him the right choice to join our executive team to lead these crucial areas,” said Beverly Anderson, BECU’s president and chief executive officer. “At BECU, we strive to continue to find even more meaningful ways to better serve our members and expand our reach to more communities. We are confident Rick will help us deliver on our purpose and unlock new possibilities for BECU.”Eiel joins BECU with over 30 years of experience in the consumer financial service industry, including leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. Most recently, he served as the head of Product and Analytics at Equifax, where he managed the direct-to-consumer digital platform, credit monitoring and identity protection products. He earned his Master of Business Administration, with concentrations in Information Systems and Economics, from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. With more than 1.3 million members and $30.2 billion in assets, BECU is the largest not-for-profit credit union in Washington and one of the top four financial cooperatives in the country.
Not quite a dead mall, Northway Mall could be ready for redevelopment. That's according to local brokers Dino Christophilis, Daniel Tibeau and Chris Burdett of CBRE. There's a catch, however, for the 30-acre property: It's up in Anchorage. Christophilis said in a statement, “While the highest and best use is undefined, the former mall is ideal for conversion or redevelopment to an alternative use.” Self-storage, industrial, a hotel or offices are among the possibilities mentioned. For now, remaining tenants includes Planet Fitness, Shockwave Trampoline and Xpress Lube. The big box has about 354,382 square feet. There's no asking price or announced deadline for offers.
After joining the national project management firm PPM two years ago, Mark Wanic has been appointed as its first chief operating officer. CEO Clark Lindsay said in a statement, “In this new role, he will continue to lead the evolution of our service lines in key markets across North America, providing me the opportunity to focus on strategic acquisitions, innovations, and new technologies that will deepen our ability to serve the ever-evolving needs of our diverse client base.” PPM is based in Seattle, and has other offices across the U.S.
Fremont Dock Co. owns much of its namesake neighborhood, including the land beneath the PCC and Epicenter Apartments complex at 620 N. 34th St. The six-story project, with 130 units, was developed circa 2002 by Security Properties. Now Gantry has announced a new $12.3 million loan to refinance the old ground lease. The firm's Mike Wood led the effort, and said in a statement, “The continued performance of The Epicenter informed our underwriting for the ground-lease financing. Our life company correspondent lenders compete for refinancing on these seasoned ground-lease loans, and can offer extremely attractive financing where extensive performance history exists.” Public records show the new money came from State Farm Life Insurance. The loan carries a 10-year fixed rate and retired the old loan, also secured by Gantry, from G.E. Group Life Assurance. Gantry's Alex Saunders also worked on the deal.

Kate Weiland has been promoted to partner at BuildingWork. Weiland's promotion marks a significant milestone as she is the first employee to join founder and principal Matt Aalfs in an ownership position at the seven years old firm.
As Aalfs' first hire in 2016, Weiland brings specific expertise in the design of libraries and adaptive reuse of existing buildings as well as a resume of community and civic projects of various scopes and scales. Weiland is an architect and project manager on BuildingWork's most complex projects including the Metropole Building, the award winning Skyway Library, and Town Hall Seattle, and is currently serving as the Senior Project Manager for The Seattle Public Library Green Lake Branch. Weiland regularly shares her expertise on everything from library design to retrofits and has served as a guest critic at the University of Washington Architecture Department since 2014.
FSi Engineers announced the promotion of Jessica Moyer to the position of senior associate. Moyer brings a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Seattle University and 13 years of experience. Since joining FSi in 2014, she has excelled in creating complex mechanical designs and is an integral part of the Boeing team.
Cary Kopczynski & Company (CKC) hired Hector Lasalle and Mary Shim as senior design engineers, promoted Andy Tu to senior project manager, and promoted Elaine Peng and Al Leaverenz to senior associate.
Lasalle, PE, SE, joined CKC with extensive experience in structural design and analysis for steel and concrete buildings. His current projects include the design of 410 E. Fifth St. in Austin which will become the tallest building in Texas at 1,035' in height.
Shim, PE, LEED AP, has over 16 years of domestic and international experience in structural design, analysis, and management for concrete and steel buildings. Her current projects include a three tower residential and retail development in Bellevue, and the 9th & Howell hotel tower in Seattle.
Tu, PE, SE, LEED AP, has more than twenty years of structural engineering experience, including the design and project management of residential towers, mixed-use facilities, and parking structures. His current projects include 222 Fifth Ave. N. and the Belltown 36 Tower, both in Seattle.
Peng, PE, SE, is a senior design engineer and has led the structural design of residential towers, office buildings and parking structures. She is highly experienced with concrete and steel design and is currently working on the Snoqualmie Casino expansion and multifamily residential projects in Denver.
Leaverenz is a major projects BIM specialist and has significant experience in project planning, coordination and BIM modeling for concrete, steel, and timber structures. His current projects include 410 E. Fifth St. in Austin, 1900 Broadway Tower in Oakland, and the Laguna parking structure in Los Angeles.
GGLO announced the promotion of four staff. Jessie Templeton, Tim Slazinik, Rachel Brockway, and Phillip Decker have all been promoted to senior associate.
Templeton, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, LFA, approaches architectural design from a background in environmental studies and urban planning. She is the firm's embodied carbon specialist and part of the design equity initiative, which focuses on intelligent material and system solutions and building relationships with the people who will ultimately inhabit the space's the firm designs. Templeton graduated with a Masters in Architecture from the University of Oregon and has worked on single and multi-family residential projects, hospitality, mixed-use developments, and as a planning consultant.
Slazinik, PLA, ASLA, LEED green associate, brings a strong background of public engagement and civic design experience. His work includes landscapes of all scales and programs. Slazinik's experience runs the gamut of scales and project types, from health centers and middle schools to rooftop farms and trail systems. Outside of his project work, he serves in a national and local roles with the American Society of Landscape Architects, and has been a featured speaker at the ASLA Annual Conferences.
Brockway, senior associate NCIDQ, brings over 20 years of industry experience to GGLO with a strong background in hospitality and workplace design. She possesses a profound love of art, materials and finishes, and believes they are the most essential element in creating a highly sought-after “authentic experience”.
Decker, senior associate PLA, ASLA, has a deep appreciation for integrated, site-specific design that is both ecologically responsible and authentic to each and every site. Prior to joining GGLO, Decker worked on a diverse set of private, public and institutional projects throughout the northwest, northeast and Asia. He has broad experience in project types that include residential, master planning communities, public plazas, stream restoration, retail lifestyle center and public and private schools.
Washington Trust Bank announced the addition of Kevin Bedlington to its Commercial Banking team in the north Puget Sound region as vice president and relationship manager. While Bedlington is new to Washington Trust Bank, he is not new to banking. He brings over 22 years of experience in the financial industry to the team, having worked in commercial lending at other western Washington financial institutions since 2001.
