CF2GS, a direct response advertising agency with offices in Seattle, Portland, Ore., San Francisco and Reno, Nev., has promoted four people to the newly created post of associate creative director. They are: Virginia Saunders and Rick Peterson, former senior copywriters; Tom Scherer, previously a senior art director; and John Holm, former senior art director/film director. CF2GS has also added three staff members. Troy Nebecker has been hired as a digital production artist. He comes form EvansGroup where he held the same position. Jennifer Ward-Lamont has been hired as an account executive. Before joining the agency, she worked for eight years as direct marketing manager for McCaw Cellular Communications. Christina Kelly has also been hired as an account executive. Most recently, Kelly was an associate executive with Herring Newman in Seattle.
Robert L. Downing has been named regional vice president of Tee Time Reservations (TTR) Course Scheduling Management Systems & Service. TTR, a nationwide reservation service for golfers, has produced a program which integrates hardware, proprietary software and a sophisticated telecommunications system that allows golf courses to optimize tee sheet scheduling and maximize course utilization. Dowing's initial efforts will focus on golf courses throughout Washington, Oregon, and Vancouver, B.C. Downing joins TTR from Inside Golf Magazine, where he was associate publisher. He has also held various sales management positions with local publishing companies.
The Tacoma Ad Club has elected its new officers and board members for 1995-1996. Officers are: Sandi Gobroski, Sandi Gobroski Communications, president; Don Doza, the News Tribune, president-elect; Angela Duarte, the Lakewood Journal, recording secretary, Scott Larsen, Bill Larsen and Associates, corresponding secretary, and Jerry Graddon, Southgate Press, treasurer. Other board members include: Jon Martin, Blue Zoo Graphics, Peggy Longnecker, Schultz Group Communications, Amy Garcia, KCPQ-TV, Beth Pascarella, Westco Marketing, and Dana Endicott, United Way of Pierce County. Darrell Doepke will remain on the board as past president.
American Cancer Society of Washington Inc., in partnership with Safeco Corporation, has awarded Seattle-based Bombar Public Relations a $50,000 contract to create a communications program to support the Breast and Cervical Health Project (BCHP), a federally-funded program administered locally by the Seattle-King County Department of Public Health. The program provides free mammograms, Pap tests and clinical exams to women who have low incomes or no insurance. The contract's primary objective is to reach older African-American women and Latinas in King County who have not had breast or cervical cancer screenings, and to attract new prospects into community clinics offering the free exams. Collaborating as diversity managers for Bombar Public Relations on the program are Linda Kennedy, King TV veteran and Public Information Officer for the Seattle-King County Health Department, and non-profit communications specialist Connie Rivera.

Seattle-based Northwestern Trust and Advisory Co., a provider of trustee, custody and investment management services to corporations and individual clients, has added Brian P. Forster as vice president of marketing. Forster comes from Smith Barney where he served as financial consultant. He has also held marketing positions for the Federal Express Corp., and has worked as account executive for San Francisco-based Pacific Bell.
Andy Hopson has been appointed president of Seattle-based EvansGroup Public Relations. He replaces Lon LaFlamme, who stepped down to take some time off after 22 years with the firm. Hopson, formerly the division's chief operating officer, joined EvansGroup in 1993 as executive vice president and managing director of its Seattle public relations unit. His public relations career includes stints as Congressional press secretary and as manager in the Houston and Seattle offices of international public relations firm Ogilvy & Mather. Before joining Evansgroup, he served as vice president of marketing for the Economic Development Council of Seattle & King County. With Hopson's succession, executive vice president Dale Simpson was named executive director of Evans Food Group and Steve Bryant becomes general manager, corporate communications/product promotion. Simson has supervised public relations and advertising for major food clients at the agency for five years, prior to which he worked for Cole and Weber and other West Coast firms. Bryant, formerly deputy general manager, is a 10-year EvansGroup veteran.
Northwest Cable Advertising, providing advertisers access to 12 cable networks, has promoted one employee and added several new staff members. Scott Hardy has been promoted from retail sales representative in the Snohomish County office to agency sales representative in the Seattle headquarters office. Melene Thompson replaces Hardy in the Snohomish County office. Thompson comes from Val-Pak where she was account executive. Peter Alvarado, previously a producer for Viacom in Salem, Ore., has been hired as producer/director for home shopping network TV Mart. Barry Silveira has joined the network as retail sales representative. Most recently, he was regional sales manager for Vancouver, B.C.-based Anitel Communications. Also, Joe Jabon has been named editor for the network and Megan O'Hara is a new sales assistant.
The first Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in the Pacific Northwest opened in Everett on June 3. The facility, formerly known as the WestCoast Everett Pacific Hotel, is the 41st property to be designated a Howard Johnson Plaza. The hotel, which features 250 guest rooms, will target executives, business and government leaders, and professionals, in addition to conference, meeting and convention attendees. The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel is operated by Seattle-based hotel management company Northwest Lodging Inc.
Peter Hwang has joined Colliers as a commercial real estate agent specializing in investment properties. He was formerly marketing director/venture capital with Pollutec Resources Inc.
Heidi Hilliard joined the Bellevue residential lending branch of Continental Mortgage as a loan officer. She will work with Eastside real estate agents and home buyers. Hilliard has been in the business for two years and was previously a loan processor with the company's Federal Way branch.
David Sebastian has been promoted to president of Arcand Company, a national sponsor of affordable housing tax credit programs for institutional investors. He was formerly senior vice president and chief financial officer. The Arcand Company has a portfolio of assets worth more than $1 billion consisting of 500 properties nationwide. Robert Arcand, founder of the Portland-based company, continues as chairman.
Bruce and Cherie Durham have joined John L. Scott Tacoma North. They sell commercial and residential properties. Suzanne Smith is new in that office, along with David Gala, Mary Steenson, Bob McCarthy, Michael Tran and Sandy Lundquist.
Windermere Real Estate Auburn office has added two new associates: David Destefano and Porter Sigler. Susan Harrington is new in the Bellevue office and Jeffrey Jurgensen is new in the Wall Street office.
Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Northwest is featuring a panel discussion on Initiative 164 at its July 12 luncheon. The panel will include Robert Derrick, director of the King County Dept. of Development and Environmental Services, Lucy Steers of the League of Women Voters, Bill Conner, president of Conner Development and Glenn Amster, partner in Lane Powell Spears & Lubersky. The luncheon will be at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers with registration starting at 11:45 am.
