AAA Washington

Bellevue-based AAA Washington, a not-for-profit travel services organization providing travel, insurance, financial and auto-related services, signed its 500,000th member -- Shannon Larkin -- in July. Larkin was awarded a lifetime AAA Plus membership by company President Paul Herron, and received a weekend getaway at a Northwest resort along with $500 in travelers cheques.

Willamette Industries

Willamette Industries' board of directors has elected Steven R. Rogel to the position of chief executive officer, effective Oct. 1, and appointed him to the company's board. He will replace William Swindells, who is retiring as CEO after 42 years with company. Swindells will remain chairman of the board. Rogel, 53, has been president and chief operating officer of Willamette since 1991. A chemical engineering graduate of the University of Washington, Rogel joined Willamette in 1972 as technical director of the Albany, Oregon paper mill. He held several management positions at that mill and the company's Red River Mill in Campti, Louisiana before being elected vice president in 1979 and executive vice president nine years later.

MWW/Savitt

The Seattle office of public relations firm MWW/Savitt has promoted Rosanne Marks from account supervisor to vice president. Marks started working for MWW/Savitt in 1993. Prior to that, she was an account supervisor at Sorensen Roberts & Hansen in Seattle. Marks also served as a public information officer for the Washington State House of Representatives and has held communications positions at Paine Webber and Shearson Lehman Brothers.

Delta Warranty

DelCor Holdings Inc. has announced the purchase of the Delta Warranty operations from Delta Holdings Inc. DelCor Holdings was formed by two executives from Delta Warranty, President David L. Larson and Vice President Eric C. Kord , as well as Michael Heijer, president of GranCorp Inc. Real Estate Investments. Issaquah-headquartered Delta Warranty, which started operations in 1982, sells and administers extended service contracts on consumer electric products through major retail chains across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. It also manufactures a line of surge protection equipment under the trademark Product Plus. Delta Warranty's current annual sales are approximately $6 million.

Sound Schools

Sound schools, a newly formed coalition of six schools and three community organizations in West Seattle, has named Jan Adsit Shellgren as its first executive director. Shellgren, the Seattle School Board member who represents West Seattle, has announced her resignation from the board in order to accept the position. The organization's goals include strengthening neighborhoods through expanded use of school facilities. Jobs skills, enrichment and recreation programs will be offered to the community in each school facility. Inter-generational and multi-ethnic academic programs also will be coordinated by the agency.

Mayflower Park Hotel

Seattle's Mayflower Park Hotel, which recently completed a two-year renovation, has hired Tish Faulk as corporate sales manager. Faulk previously held the position of sales manager at the Port Ludlow Resort and Conference Center, and before that at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans.

Single in Seattle

Former accountant Jim Harris has been named president of Single in Seattle, a Renton facility that helps single men and women aged 21 and over find a compatible companion.

Tully's Coffee

Seattle gourmet coffee retailer Tully's Coffee has announced the opening of two new stores. The company's 11th outlet will open in early August at 6702 N.E. Bothell Way, adjacent to the Burke Gilman Trail near one of King County's busiest intersection. At 1,800 square feet, it will be the company's third largest store. In last August, Tully's will open its 12th store, a 1,000-square-foot facility to be located in the Everett Mutual Tower, Everett.

Four Seasons Tennis Club

Scott Shogreen, who played his collegiate tennis at Pepperdine University, has been hired as the director of tennis at the Four Seasons Tennis Club in Everett. As a player, Shogreen was ranked #1 in singles and doubles in the USTA/Pacific Northwest section open division for the last three years. He has been the private coach of Jan Michael Gambill of Spokane, currently the top-ranked player in the National 18s, and of Sonya Olejar, who now plays at Pepperdine University. Shogreen currently serves as a coach for the USTA/Pacific Northwest section area training center. In 1994, he also served as the director of tennis at the North Park Racquet Club in Spokane. Assisting Shogreen will be Gary Davies, and Michele Krause.

Genstar Land Company

Scott Brown has joined Genstar Land Company Northwest as development manager for the master-planned residential community Eagle Ridge.

The Prudential

The Prudential Michael Smith Realtors, an 80-agent Bellevue-based firm, has recently added several new sales associates. They include: Jim Muenz, Marina Giorgiev, Pat Carlson, Vivian Peterson and Calvin Penny.

W.E. Ruth joins RE/MAX

W.E. "Bill" Ruth, a longtime realtor in the South King County area, has recently converted his two real estate offices ( Renton and Maple Valley) to RE/MAX franchises. Both franchises will be known as RE/MAX Performance Plus.

Homebuyer education seminar

The Washington State Housing Commission will sponsor a free community homebuyer education seminar on Aug. 19, at Metropolitan Savings, 9325 Rainier Ave. S., in Seattle.
