Seattle-based Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has elected its new board of trustees. Gerald Swanson has been elected to a two-year term as chairman. Swanson is chairman and chief executive officer of the Pacific Northwest region of the insurance and benefits consulting firm Johnson & Higgins. He succeeds Neil McReynolds, who has served as board chair since july 1993. Also appointed to the board: Rich Jones, a tax partner and area director of tax for the Seattle office of Ernest & Jones; Dan D. McLean, president and chief executive officer for the Safeco Insurance Companies' property and casualty operations; Martin Nelson Jr., president and chief operating officer of Martin Nelson & Co. Inc., an investment banking firm in Seattle; and Arthur B. Sirjord, a partner and engineering director of TRA.
Dr. James Perez has been appointed vice president for students services at Seattle-based Shoreline Community College. Most recently, as associate dean of Columbia Basin College's branch campus in Richland, Washington, Perez supervised instructional programs, student services, facilities and fiscal management. From 1990 to 1993, he was associate dean of student development services at Columbia Basin College.
Michelle Peterson has joined Seattle-based Virginia Mason Medical Center as a communications specialist. Peterson will manage patient communications including the editing of Virginia Mason Magazine. Peterson joins Virginia Mason following nearly seven years with Washington Natural Gas where she managed consumer information.
Laucks Testing Laboratories Inc., an environmental laboratory serving clients worldwide from Seattle since 1908, has added three chemists. Johnny Skeltonhas joined Laucks' GC/MS department with nine years of experience. Before coming to Laucks, he ran the GC/MS group for Star Analytical in Forth Worth, Texas. Dr. Ming Hwa Hwang will lead cross training at Laucks and will focus initially on the HPLC group. Most recently, Hwang was Inorganics Group Supervisor for ATI. Tamara Jerome comes to Laucks with ten years of project management and analytical experience and has joined Laucks' client services group as project manager. Jerome was formerly with ATI.
Larry Chimenti has accepted the position of membership marketing and sales director with the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties. He has been an active member of the organization since 1983. Prior to joining the MBA, Chimenti worked for Sears as a district manager for contract sales.
Frontier Foundations Inc. of Everett is changing its name to AGRA Foundations Inc. The company provides specialized deep foundation services, including drilled caissons, driven piles, ground treatment, shoring and anchor systems. AGRA Foundations Inc. is one of four subsidiary construction companies within the AGRA Construction Group, based in Canada in Mississauga, Ontario. The name change is part of AGRA Construction Group's strategic focus to provide its customers with complementary construction services. As part of the plan, MCL Pile Driving of Richmond, B.C., is changing its name to AGRA Foundations (Pacific) Ltd.; Hanlon Construction Ltd. of Richmond is changing its name to AGRA Marine Construction Ltd.; and Western Caissons Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta, is changing its name to AGRA Foundations Ltd.

Seattle-based Wilmer Communications Group Inc., a marketing communications company, has added Dashiel Wham as communications manager. Wham brings nine years of experience with Westin Hotels & Resorts, including three years as a technical product development manager and over five years as corporate public relations manager specializing in media relations.
PacifiCare of Washington, a managed care organization based on Mercer Island, has promoted Maureen McLaughlin from vice president of marketing to vice president and general manager for the state of Washington. Prior to joining PacifiCare, she served as director of marketing for Network Health Plan. She also was director of King County's Department of Human Services from 1986 to 1991.
Moss Adams, a public accounting firm with 15 offices in Washington, Oregon, and California, has added a new member and promoted 20 members of its staff at the Seattle office. Mike Mansfield has been hired as tax manager. Elana Aberge, Kris Dunning, Mark Gerspacher, Stacy Hazelett, Jerry Magnani, Julia Lackey, Stan Miller, and Suzanne Sundsby have been promoted to managers. Rich Carter, Margo Frimodt, and Bonnie Heidal have been promoted to supervisors. Jill Galeotti, Dena Herbolich, Jennifer Muenze, Ngu Phan, Robyn Spence, Michelle Taylor, Dave Williams, and Jocelyn Williams have also been promoted.
Seattle-based retail chain Pacific Linen will open a new 18,350-square-foot store August 14 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It is the first of two Saskatchewan stores scheduled to open this year. The Saskatoon, located at 810 Circle Drive East, will be managed by Susan Seto. Assistant managers will be Tonya Jordan and Shelley Bauman. With the opening of Saskatoon, Pacific Linen will have a total of 50 stores -- 18 units in five Canadian provinces (Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Manitoba) and 32 stores in eight states (Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah, Alaska, Idaho, Nevada, and Kansas).
