The Mayflower Park Hotel

The Mayflower Park Hotel, a European-style hotel located downtown Seattle which has recently completed a two-year renovation, has hired William Brouillard as catering manager. Brouillard's previous hotel experience included acting as interim director of food and beverage, and banquet manager for the Sheraton Tacoma Hotel.

Herring/Newman

Seattle-based advertising agency Herring/Newman has promoted three members of its staff. Bill Toliver has been named Herring/Newman's chief executive officer, Alan Brown is now general manager, and Kelle Buttin has been promoted to chief financial officer. Toliver has joined the agency in 1992 as an account manager. Prior to that, he spent two years in sales for IBM and seven years doing international marketing for Hewlett-Packard. Brown also was named a managing partner when he joined Herring/Newman last year. Previously, he was executive vice president of client services for Frequency Marketing, a Cincinnati-based direct and retention marketing firm. He also worked for Pepsi-Cola USA and Procter & Gamble. Buttin, a certified public accountant, joined the agency last year as controller responsible for the agency's financial and accounting operations. Previously, she worked in the Seattle office of Moss Adams and as general manager for Les Boulangers Associates Inc.

Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers

The Sheraton Seattle Hotel and Towers hosted executive chef Siri Hanchana Khun of the Royal Orchid Sheraton in Bangkok, Thailand last week as part of the "Two Continents Meet" international chefs promotion sponsored by ITT Sheraton Corp. Khun prepared Thai cuisine July 31 through Aug. 6 at Pike Street Cafe. Khun and Fullers chef Monique Barbeau prepared special items Aug. 5 for a dinner in Fullers restaurant that was co-sponsored by Starbucks Coffee Company and Mondavi Winery. The international chefs promotion took place at Sheraton locations across the country and included visiting chefs from Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Italy, and Thailand. The Sheraton Seattle and the Sheraton Harbor Island in San Diego were the two locations on the West Coast to host a visiting chef.

First Interstate Bank

First Interstate Bank of Washington has named vice president Don Grant manager of its King County commercial banking center at 999 Third Ave. in Seattle. Grant joined First Interstate Bank of Oregon in 1977 and later worked for First Interstate Bank of Denver. He transferred to First Interstate of Washington as a commercial lender in 1988. Olympic Capital Partners PLLC

Seattle-based Olympic Capital Partners PLLC, a financial advisory and intermediary services company founded in March to meet the corporate finance needs of middle market companies, has hired Michael T. Lennon as a director of its investment banking operations. Lennon served as managing director of First Funding Corporation, an investment banking firm in New York, Boston, and Stamford, Conn., from 1986 to 1993. Most recently, he was chief operating officer at public relations firm MWW/Strategic Communications Inc.

Ash Grove Cement Company

Bellevue-based Ash Grove Cement Company has added Drew Jared to its sales staff. Jared replaces Lee Aldrich who is retiring. Jared has had extensive experience in both the cement and ready mix concrete industries.

Elgin Syferd

Elgin Syferd Public Relations (ESPR) based in Seattle has been hired by University Village located in the neigborhood of the University of Washington to heighten public awareness of the University Village as a destination shopping center. University Village has been enlarged, existing tenants have expanded and national retail stores have arrived.

KeyCorp Public Finance Group

Four public finance specialists have joined KeyCorp's Northwest Resource Center in Seattle. Ronald Lehr, vice president, will structure bond financing for affordable housing and other needs. Previously, Lehr worked for U.S. Bank and Bank of America. Prior to that, he worked in various public sector positions, including budget director for the state of Alaska, deputy director-bonding for the Alaska Industrial Development Authority, and chief executive of the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation. David McRae, vice president, will provide various forms of financing to state and local government bodies. McRae was formerly with U.S. Bank. Herbert F. Neufeld, vice president, will assist local governments in structuring and marketing bonds for public projects. A 20-year veteran of investment banking, Neufeld previously was vice president of Seattle-headquartered Dain Bosworth's Public Finance department for the Pacific Northwest Region. And, Kendall Hansen, assistant vice president, will market and structure financing for municipal bond issuers. Hansen has six years of experience in the Northwest marketplace, underwriting and advising clients in issuing bonds to finance various capital improvements.

University of Washington

Kirby L. Cramer, chairman emeritus of the Hazleton Laboratories and a prominent University of Washington benefactor, has been named head of the UW Business School's Advisory Board for the next two years. In addition to his position with Hazleton, the world's largest contract biological and chemical research lab, Cramer has served on the boards of numerous international and Northwest firms. He is a partner in the Keystone Capital Co., which specializes in leveraged buyouts and venture capital in the Pacific Northwest, and serves as chairman of the Northwestern Trust and Investors Advisory Co. Cramer is a director of the University of Washington Foundation, and is a frequent guest speaker in Business School classes.

Document Technologies

Document Technologies, a 14-year old Arizona company and an independent provider of Xerox equipment and service, has recently expanded into the Greater Seattle area with an office in Tukwila, at 660 Industry Drive. Hal Virgil, manager of the new office, brings 25 years of experience in the copying industry. An account representative, responsible for sales, customer service and training, and five service technicians are also on staff.

Dames & Moore

James Thornton has joined Dames & Moore as a senior environmental planner. He has provided environmental permitting consulting to the pulp and paper industry, the energy industry and to governmental agencies. He was formerly senior environmentalist with the Washington State Department of Ecology, and has served on numerous citizen advisory boards and technical advisory committees, including Puget Sound Science Advisory Board. Stephen Kucas Jr. has assumed responsibility as senior fisheries biologist for the environmental services group in the Pacific Northwest offices of Dames & Moore. He has over 14 years technical and management experience in habitat identification and analysis, resource inventories, species surveys and design of watershed rehabilitation and mitigation programs. John Heal has joined the firm as a wetlands biologist. Previously a senior water quality engineer for King County, he has order eight years experience assessing wetlands, conducting stream surveys, and providing watershed management and water quality management. Rik Langendoen has transferred to the Seattle office after four years in Dames & Moore's Spokane office. As a senior geologist in the geosciences group, he will be responsible for the management of environmental, engineering geology and geologic hazards projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Freiheit & Ho

Arthur S. Chang has been promoted to the status of associate at Freiheit & Ho Architects, Inc. He joined the firm in 1991 as an architectural intern, and has most recently served as job captain on several office, retail restaurant and ecclesiastical projects. He recently completed the requirements for registration as an architect in the State of Washington.

FFA

Barbara Clement has joined Fletcher Farr Ayotte (FFA) of Portland as a project manager. She is currently working on several projects for Fred Meyer, the Greenwood Inn in Vancouver and upcoming renovations at the Oregon State Capitol building. Destin Ferdun is a CAD draftsperson working on projects for the National Park Service and Fred Meyer. In addition to sharing responsibility for computer management and troubleshooting at FFA.
