Three new operations directors have been hired by Leisure Care, a Bellevue-based company specialized in the retirement housing industry and manager of 27 retirement communities in nine western states. Bob Westermann joined Leisure Care in 1989 as the general manager of Cambridge Court in Great Falls, Mont. In 1994 and 1995, he became general manager of a Leisure Care retirement community and oversaw the operations of two retirement communities in the same town. Elaine Sandbeck comes to Leisure Care with extensive management experience. Prior to joining Leisure Care, she was an assisted living operations director for Barcelon Associates Management Corporation in Lafayette, Calif. Ellery Bennett joins Leisure Care after a 21-year career with Pizza Hut Inc.
San Diego-based Big Head Coffee Cola, which produces beverages combining coffee and carbonated cola, has contracted with A & W in Everett to produce and bottle the products for Washington consumers. Big Head Coffee Cola beverages have been in Washington state supermarkets, coffee shops and convenience stores for a month.
Dr. Paul Beck has joined Redmond-based Emerald Height's Corwin Center, providing nursing care, as medical director. Beck brings more than 15 years of experience in the area of geriatrics and chronic health care delivery.
The board of the Camp Fire Boys and Girls, a Seattle-based not for profit youth agency, has been joined by the following people as members-at-large. Bellevue-based Graphic Associates, a graphic design firm, has won a silver medal in Neenah Paper's Paperworks Text and Cover Design Contest, a national contest recognizing quality imagery in the print communications process. Company senior designer and art director Diana Loback and designer Hovie Hawk won the medal for Microsoft's Digital Pencil Seminar.
Seattle-based Center for Wooden Boats will hold its annual fund raising auction March 2 at 6:30 p.m. on Yale Street, in Seattle. The financial support will go for maintaining boats, maintaining the hands-on museum, providing special programs for disadvantaged youth and others in the community, building the library collection and information resources. Betsy Sutherland is the new vice president and northwest regional manager of the property management division of CB Commercial, covering Washington, Oregon and Alaska. She will oversee a staff of 35. Sutherland has over 14 years of property management and leasing experience.
Phillip Jay Matricardi, a real estate agent with the Capitol Hill office of Coldwell Banker Bain Associates, has been named to two positions with real estate industry trade groups. He has been named chairman of the Communications Committee of the Seattle King County Association of Realtors (SKCAR) and was named SKCAR's liaison to a joint publications task force involving three industry groups: The Northwest Multiple Listing Association (formerly the Puget Sound Multiple Listing Association), The Snohomish County Board of Realtors and the Mason County Board of Realtors.
Oxford Park, a townhouse neighborhood in Issaquah built by Seattle-based Dally Homes, received the "Grand Award" in the Best in American Living Awards (BALA) at the National Association of Home Builders' annual convention. Located in Issaquah's Klahanie community, Oxford Park was chosen the top single family, attached home development of between eight and 15 units per acre. Bill Kreager of Mithun Partners, Inc., architects/land planners, and Markie Nelson of Markie Nelson Interiors, also worked on Oxford. Dally Homes is currently building three condominium projects in the area including Fairweather Point in Lake Stevens, Windsong Arbor in Kent and Pacific Palisades on North Lake Union.
The Tacoma-Pierce County Association of Realtors has appointed Mark Kahley as Governmental Affairs Director. He is responsible for policy development and advocacy of issues.
Free homebuyers education seminars will be hosted by Metropolitan Savings in February and March. The seminars will provide information on how to determine monthly mortgage payments, how to shop for a home, loan programs and downpayment assistance programs which are available for first time and low-income borrowers.
