CDCOM, Inc.

CDCOM, Inc. of Federal Way has hired David Swarm as production manager. Swarm was general manager for Seattle Micro Inc. CDCOM, Inc. is a CD-ROM processing, duplication and distribution service bureau. Products include Laser Express which is a direct replacement for microfiche. The newest addition to the product line is Parts Express, an electronic parts catalog which can be used by companies to distribute parts, assemblies and finished goods.

Andersen Consulting

Andersen Consulting, a global management and technology consulting organization, has named five new managers for the company. Elayne DiYorio, Scott Harrison, Todd Haugen, Ray Makela and Dan Perkins will act as managers for the Seattle office.

McCann-Erickson Seattle

McCann-Erickson has hired Wendy Ostenson as an account assistant. Previously Ostenson worked as a department sales manager at The Bon Marche.

Alpha Technologies, Inc.

Bellingham-based Alpha Technologies, Inc. is opening a new facility in Sydney, Australia. The 15,000-square-foot facility will house manufacturing and final assembly operations as well as sales offices and a customer service center. Alpha recently signed a $20 million, three-year contract to supply Optus Vision of Australia with power products. Alpha Technologies, Inc. produces a line of power protection products for the telecommunications and cable television industries, including custom, application-specific power solutions. In addition to the new plant in Australia, the company operates facilities in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and Cyprus.

Western Washington University

Michael Seal, founder and director of Western Washington's Vehicle Research Institute (VRI), has been awarded the Faculty Advisor Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Seal was honored for his long-time service as an SAE advisor and for his diligence and dedication in working with Western's SAE collegiate chapter and individual students. Seal founded the VRI, which is part of Western's engineering technology department, in 1974.

Dames & Moore

Greg Skorheim has been named director of business services at Dames & Moore. A certified disaster recovery planner, he will assist clients with disaster prevention mitigation, emergency response, employee disaster preparedness and company disaster recovery. Skorheim has seven years of experience managing disaster recovery and risk management projects for private industry in the Pacific Northwest. He has a bachelors degree in public administration from California State University in Fullerton.

RSP/EQE

RSP/EQE recently hired Thomas Lee as senior engineer. Lee will is working on work both structural design and risk assessment projects. He is currently working on the design of the Anhueser Busch bottling plant in St. Louis. His experience includes leading th design effort for the Kenworth Truck assembly plant in Renton, and he has also competed structural design project for Weyerhaeuser, General Motors and Microsoft.

Otak

Vicki Holm has joined Otak as business services manager. She is responsible for the financial and administrative operations of the office. Holm brings over 15 years of professional financial, contract and project management experience to the job. She has held senior level positions with Alliant Techsystems and Honeywell. Joel Watson has joined Otak as a civil engineer-in-training. He is currently working on the Grand Ridge planned development preliminary sewer design, plan reviews for the City of Redmond, and the 112th Avenue Northwest improvement project for the City of Kirkland. Watson was previously employed by Alpha Engineering Group, Inc. Terri Frank has joined the firm as a project assistant. Her responsibilities include managing the front desk, and assisting project managers. She was previously employed by Providence Health Plans.

Bassetti

Douglas Blair has joined Bassetti Architects as business manager. His background include 13 years managing architectural and engineering practices and 7 years as a owners's project manager. He holds degree in construction management and business administration. Eric Thomas Lanciault and Marnie Lanore Boomer have joined the project team for the Edmonds Woodway high School. Lanciault is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and has experience in commercial, mixed use, health care and educational projects. His work includes projects in the historic Huang Pu District of Shanghai, China. Boomer holds a masters degree in architecture from MIT. She has design and management experience in judicial and science buildings, multi and single family housing, and urban planning. Boomer is a board member of Seattle's Homelessness Project. Paul Richards is a graduate of the University of Washington and joins the firm as and intern. Matt Bennett is the firm's new general office and computer assistant.

TRC

William Stewart has joined Towne, Richards & Chaudiere, Inc. as an acoustical consultant. He has a master's degree in acoustical engineering with and undergraduate degree in architecture. He was most recently executive officer of the U.S.S. Brunswick as a special operations officer with the Navy. Kelly Rench joined the firm as business development manager. Prior to joining TRC, she was an account executive for Boise Cascade's office products division, with past experience in the advertizing industry.
