Northwest Cable Advertising has hired Beverly Green and Robert Leydon as sales representatives. Green comes from Pacific Publishing Co. of Seattle and Leydon previously worked at the Cascade Trade Assn. in Seattle.
Gordon W. Duncan, Ph.D, has been appointed chief executive officer of Bellevue-based BioFrontiers. Duncan comes from Kirkland-based ProCyte, a pharmaceutical company, where he was a corporate officer.
Liz Ashrafi has been promoted from public relations assistant to account executive at Imagio, a Seattle-based advertising and public relations firm dedicated to the high-tech market. Ashrafi joined Imagio in 1995 as a marketing assistant.
Krista Eichler, manager of public affairs for the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, has been appointed executive director of The Alki Foundation, a business organization that assists candidates for local office who have demonstrated leadership in their community and business circles. The Alki Foundation is an affiliate of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce.
Bothell-based The Seattle Northeast Residence Inn by Marriott, has been named as a national Quest for Quality Silver Hotel. The hotel was selected based on top performance in guest satisfaction, as well as market and financial performance.

Sorensen Roberts & Hansen, a Seattle-based agency focusing on Internet services, has promoted Patti Turnbull to vice president. Turnbull, a 12-year employee of Sorensen Roberts & Hansen, has managed a variety of business-to-business and consumer accounts.
Bob Frause has been elected managing partner of Kindred Nolan Callahan Frause, an advertising, public relations and marketing communications agency of Seattle. From 1985 to 1995, Frause was a senior vice president at Elgin DDB.
Three admirals have been assigned by the Navy in the creation of a Navy megaport in Bremerton to streamline operations and putting more control in the hands of local brass. Rear Adm. Robert Nutwell, commander of the Navy's Carrier Group 3, now based in Alameda, Calif., and his staff of about 56 military personnel will move into offices at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton by next January. Rear Adm. William D. Center will arrive May 3 from San Francisco and make his headquarters at the new Everett home port to oversee an array of naval activities and bases in the Pacific Northwest. And, Rear Adm. Henry F. Herrera has already been assigned to the region. Headquartered at the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor, he will turn over his regional administrative duties to Center when he arrives but will remain in control of the Bangor-based Trident submarine fleet.
Stephen Jackson has joined the Seattle office of Piper Jaffray Inc., a Minneapolis-based investment firm, as assistant vice president of investments. Previously, Jackson was an investment officer with Dain Bosworth in Seattle. And, Patrick O'Neill has been hired as an investment executive. O'Neill comes from Smith Barney in Seattle where he was a marketing assistant.

Mithun Partners has made two new addition to the Interior Design group: Bill McKnight has twenty years of experience in the retail and merchandising design field, and will lead Mithun Partners' interior design efforts for retail and hospitality projects. Currently he is working on the new flagship store for Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) in downtown Seattle and the new Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo, Calif. McKnight was previously employed by Callison Architecture, where he worked on several Nordstrom stores nationwide; L.L. Bean's new Flagship Store in Freeport, Maine; A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) at the Eagles Auditorium; and The Seattle Repertory expansion. Prior to working at Callison, he served as the corporate display director for Nordstrom, Inc. McKnight graduated from Montana State University. Elizabeth MacPherson will lead the interior design efforts for Mithun Partners' residential care and medical projects. Currently she is working on the Woodmark at Steel Lake assisted living facility in Federal Way; a low-income project for seniors in Port Orchard; and the St. Francis Medical Pavilion in Federal Way. Prior to joining Mithun Partners, McPherson was an interior designer at Callison Architecture, Simmonds Healthcare, and Hillhaven Corporation. She graduated from the University of Oregon.
Robin Shuler has joined Abacus Engineered Systems, Inc. as a Chief Financial Officer. He has twenty years of financial management, accounting and administrative experience, mostly in engineering, architecture and construction. He served as CFO/Controller of W & H Pacific, Inc. and AGI Technologies and Director of Accounting and Finance for URS Corporation. Mark Stavig has joined Abacus as a senior mechanical engineer and project manager. He is currently working on the Shanghai American School in the People's Republic of China, and expansion of the Pacific Science Center, and the new Student Center for Seattle University. Previously with Wood Harbinger, his work included the $80 million Customer Training Support Center for Boeing, the U.S. Bancorp Headquarters & Data Center in Gresham, Oregon, and the new $36 million Science Facility at Central Washington University.
Kim Munizza and Paul Wanzer have formed a new architectural and interior design firm in Seattle. Munizza has sixteen years of interior design experience. She was previously with Mithun Partners as a Associate and project designer after spending several years with various firms in the Bay Area. She is a graduate of the University of Washington. Her projects include the REI Seattle Flagship Project; The World of Eddie Bauer, Oakbrook, Ill.; Indian Summer Golf and Country Clubhouse, Yelm; Apple Computer Headquarters, Cupertino, Calif.; and Delta Dental Plan Corporate office, San Francisco. Wanzer is a registered Architect with sixteen years of experience. Most recently he was a Senior Associate and project manager with Mithun Partners and prior to that at the local firms of Hoshide Williams and The Hastings Group-Architects. He is a graduate of Washington State University. Notable projects include; REI Seattle Flagship Project; The World of Eddie Bauer, Oakbrook, Ill.; Broadmoor Golf Clubhouse, Seattle; Pacific Rim Bonsai Garden, Federal Way; and various local residences. Wanzer Munizza Design Studio is located at The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce Building, 83 Columbia.
John Plyler has joined SSOE's Mechanical Process Department as a chemical engineer-in-training. He has broad experience in process design for heavy industrial clients such as Vanalco, Birmingham Steel, Kalama Chemical, and Longview Fibre. He comes to SSOE from Heddeloh, Hayes, Inc. in Portland. Jeffery Roberts, a recent graduate of ITT Technical Institute, has joined SSOE as a CADD technician in the civil structural department.
Susan Gygi has joined Bucher, Willis & Ratliff as a new transportation engineer and engineer-in-training. She previously worked for the Washington State Transportation Center (TraC) while pursuing her master's degree in civil engineering at the University of Washington. She has more than five years experience with managing transportation related issues. Her responsibilities include traffic modeling, geometric design, and transportation planning.
