Showplace Kitchens & Baths

Showplace Kitchens and Baths of Redmond has two designers who won awards in the 1996 National Kitchen and Bath Association Design Contest. Delores Hyden, CKD, CBD received an Honorable Mention Award for her universal bath design entry, and Marie Thompson, CKD, CBD received an Honorable Mention Award for her residential kitchen design.

Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines commemorated the first anniversary of its passenger and cargo service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Seoul, South Korea, with a reception May 16 at the Seattle Sheraton. The Port of Seattle Commission was sponsor of the event, which also celebrated the strengthening of close ties between Seattle and Korea, Washington's fifth largest trading partner.

KNCF/Dave

Kindred Nolan Callahan Frause/Dave has formed an entertainment marketing group to represent independent recording artists and entertainers. KNCF/Dave partner and creative director, Kevin Nolan, will head the group. It was formed to provide clients with services in booking, promotion, product distribution and publicity.

USConnect Seattle

Tom Hall and Colleena Silba have joined USConnect Seattle, an education center for technical training, as Network Instructors in the Education Department. They are responsible for teaching Microsoft Certified courses. Hall is a Microsoft Certified Product Specialist (MCPS) and a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). He teaches NT Workstation and NT Server. Silba is also a MCT and specializes in teaching Windows 95 and Microsoft TCP/IP courses.

Mountain View

Gerald Yurovchak, long-time construction professional and local area resident, has joined Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park as director of cemetery operations. Yurovchak will supervise a staff of 17 and have overall responsibility for on-going maintenance and operations of the cemetery property and facilities.

Expeditors

Manfred Amberger has been named Regional Director-Europe by Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. Amberger brings 30 years' experinece in freight forwarding and international transportation to his new position. He joined Expeditors in early 1992 as Country Manager for Germany and was instrumental in establishing Expeditors' five branches and four agent locations in that country. He also established locations in neighboring countries, particularly the emerging markets of Eastern Europe. His responsibiilities have increased to include overseeing Expeditors' subsidiary operations in Sweden, Finland and most recently, Austria; as well as agent locations in Denmark, Norway and Switzerland.

First Heritage Bank

Adrian Taylor has been elected chairman of First Heritage Bank's Board of Directors for the 1996-97 year. Taylor was one of First Heritage Bank's founding board of directors in 1981.

First American Title Insurance Company

Paul Hammann Vice President and Pierce County Manager for First American Title Insurance has been promoted to Vice President and Assistant Senior Underwriter for First American Title's National Underwriting Group in Santa Anna, California. Hammann's replacement will be E. Curtis Johnson. Johnson is a Real Estate Attorney and was previously Vice President and Snohomish County Manager for First American Title. The position of Manager in Snohomish County has been filled by Tom Hartman. Prior to taking this position, Hartman managed title insurance companies in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona.

KeyBank

Sandy Hedington, vice president, has been named to two Human Resources positions at KeyBank. She will serve as Community Banking's Human Resources manager for the Northwest Region, including Alaska, Oregon and Washington. She will also represent Human Resources in the newly defined Southern Puget Sound District's management team. Hedington's office will be located in Tacoma, Key's Southern Puget Sound District headquarters. From there she will ensure a full range of employee-related functions for the District. In her regional role, she is responsible for implementing all Northwest Region Human Resources activites regarding Community Banking's first Choice 2000 initiatives.

McGowan Broz

Rudy A. Ing has joined McGowan Broz engineers as manager of mechanical engineering. Ing, formerly of HNTB, has specialized in managing power plant, petrochemical and aviation fueling projects. Vicky L. Hemphill has joined McGowan Broz Engineers as an electrical designer. Hemphill, formerly of Boeing's facilities design support group, has 16 years of experience in the engineering field. Joe Wintermuth has joined McGowan Broz Engineers as a senior electrical engineer, with over 25 years of experience.

Meng

Michael W. Biggs, director of engineering at Meng, has now joined four others as a principal with the firm. Biggs has over 25 years of experience in the management of large, multi-disciplinary projects for public and private clients, including the Seattle District Corps of Engineers, Boeing and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He will be responsible for leading the firm's multi-disciplinary services and expanding design/build capabilities for public and private clients. Lee Bogard has joined the firm as a mechanical engineer. He has extensive experience in mechanical design applications and preparing energy studies for commercial, educational and governmental projects. Current projects include a life cycle cost analysis for the $8.4 million Bioscience Research Building at Montana State University and mechanical design of the new Talbot Hill Elementary School for Renton School District. Linda Nohavec has joined Meng as office manager, with over 15 years of administrative management experience with architecture firms in the Seattle area, and has worked as an interior designer. She will provide interior design services, office management and project administration. Mark Biggs is a new CAD designer with Meng. He has served since 1994 as a consultant to Autodesk, makers of AutoCAD, for the AutoCAD certification exam. He has also served as a AutoCAD instructor at Olympic Community College and Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce.

Reid Middleton

Kylie Yamatsuka has joined Reid Middleton's engineering staff. Yamatsuka is a recent civil engineer summa cum laude graduate from Seattle University and the recipient of the prestigious McNulty Award, presented to the outstanding graduate in the School of Engineering. He has been assigned to the firm's waterfront engineering division, where he is currently involved with the preliminary design of the building and docks at the U.S. Navy's Ship Model Engineering and Support Facility at Bayview, Id. He is also providing assistance to the firm's Anchorage office for various projects. Prior to joining the firm, Yamatsuka provided paralegal research assistance for Kingdome roof litigation.

Daly

Daly & Associates has added three new employees to the staff. Doug Hofius has recently relocated form Houston, and will be working on the Seattle Water Department's meter testing facility as project architect. Andrew Hoyer has been hired as project manager and will oversee the design and documentation of several multifamily projects located in Seattle. Chris Haddad has been added to the firm's production and design staff and will be involved in multifamily and biotech projects.

DPR

DPR Construction Inc. has promoted Jeff Nielsen to project manager and Joe Kay to superintendent. Nielsen will manage projects in the biomedical and bio-pharmaceutical industries. He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in construction management. Kay has over 20 years of commercial construction experience, primarily in highrise, health care, bio-technology and manufacturing.

W.A. Botting

Don Primm has joined W.A. Botting Company. He will work with the company's development team, concentrating on corporate culture and new business development. He will also be responsible for project proposals. Primm has 44 years of experience in mechanical contracting.
