Ricardo Cruz has been named as director of the King County Office of Human Resource Management. Cruz will be responsible for the human resource needs of more than 12,000 employees in the newly-consolidated King County government. Cruz previously acted as the personnel director for Seattle Public Schools.
William Dutton of Dutton Promotional Advertising has been awarded the designation of Master Advertising Specialist (MAS) by the Promotional Products Association International. PPAInternational grants the designation to those who have made a commitment to increasing their educational growth in the industry. It is the only international trade association for the promotional products industry.
The board of directors of the East King County Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced Richard Gartrell is the new president. Currently Gartrell is president of the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau. Prior to that he was president of the Newport Beach, Calif., and Ann Arbor, Mich., convention and visitor bureaus, as well as state travel director for Nebraska.
Marine Terminals Corporation (MTC), the San Francisco based stevedore and terminal operating company has appointed Douglas Tilden as president and chief executive officer. Tilden previously served as chief operating officer at MTC. This appointment follows the establishment of Marine Terminal Corporation as a separate entity within the Redlich group of companies, which is owned by the Embarcadero Corporation.
Odyssey, The Maritime Discovery Center, currently under construction at the new Bell Street Pier, will open the educational resource and visitor attraction for public tours on Tuesday, June 11, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Visitors will get their first look at the region's new maritime discovery center during the Pier 66 dedication ceremony. The center will be open to the public free of charge. Odyssey plans to be in full operation in March of 1997.
Washington State Physicians Insurance Association has promoted Thomas Myers to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Myers joined Physicians in 1991 and has held various positions within the company including vice president hospital division, vice president of underwriting and most recently, vice president of marketing.

RTM Sea-Tac, Inc., an affiliate of the RTM Restaurant Group, has promoted Sidney Williams to director of operations. His area of responsibility includes all operational aspects for 16 Arby's restaurants in western Washington. As new director, Williams will oversee the daily operations and future growth of a team of approximately 345 employees. RTM Restaurant Group is one of the country's largest privately-owned restaurant companies, operating 530 restaurants in 14 states and 27 markets.
Art McDonald, former director of corporate communications at Puget Sound Power & Light Company and former KOMO radio and television broadcaster, has taken an early retirement to join forces with Jeri McDonald & Associates, Inc. (JMA), a Seattle public relations/marketing agency owned by Art's wife, Jeri McDonald. Art has already successfully landed the Washington Special Olympics account.
Timberline Software Corporation has been ranked number 87 on Business Week magazine's list of "Hot Growth Companies". Timberline is the only Oregon company to win a position on the list. It is the second time in seven months that Timberline has been recognized for its financial growth and stability.
The Child Care Partnership Committee, the Association of Washington Business, and Child Care Advantages are making a Call for Nominations for the 1996 Work/Family Progress Awards. Each year businesses from across Washington are nominated on the basis of their Family-Friendly workplace maintained and enhanced through the development of Work/Family benefits which are profitable for the employer and employee. Catherine Leone-Woods has been appointed assistant manager - Transmission and Distribution Planning for Tacoma City Light. In her new position Leone-Woods will head a team that will be responsible for meeting City Light's power transmission and distribution needs for the near and long term. She has dealt with a variety of critical issues at City Light, including regional and regulatory matters. As an electrical engineer and a member of the Washington Bar Association, Leone-Woods has been involved in developing alternative power supply services for City Light's large industrial customers.
Fisher Properties Inc. has announced that David R. Grein was elected to the position of vice president - Real Estate Investment at the annual meeting of the Board of Directors held on May 16. "This new position recognized David's increased accountabilities in overseeing and directing the investment activities of the company," said Mark A. Weed, president and CEO.
Principals of two influential real estate brokerages, Coldwell banker Bain Associates and the Lakemont Company, have announced a merger of the two companies. The merger was effective on June 1. "The merger teams the Lakemont Company's nine associates with the approximately 15 agents in our Coldwell Banker Bain Issaquah office. With the growth we anticipate, the new, combined team should result in even greater effectiveness for Issaquah area re-sales, new construction and land sales," said Bill Riss, president of Coldwell Banker Bain Associates.
Citizens Mortgage Inc. has announced the addition of Emmett L. Hoyt to their commercial/residential loan staff. Hoyt brings with him experience in finance and business.
The Lynnwood Mortgage Corporation has added two loan officers, Lynda Gunderson and Bill Papac, to its Northgate branch. The branch opened May 6. Gunderson has five years experience in mortgage banking, most recently as a loan officer at Westwood Mortgage. Papac has been a loan officer for three and a half years and worked previously for Cornerstone Mortgage and Westwood Mortgage.
Berkshire Mortgage Finance and G.P. Realty Finance have announced the closing of and $11 million loan to refinance the Sterling Park Assisted Living Facility in Redmond, at a 7-year fixed rate of 7.99%. Constructed in 1990, Sterling Park Assisted Living consists of 162-units in a two-and three-story building and provides three levels of assisted living care and two levels of special needs care. The property is located in the Overlake area of Redmond, just three blocks from Highway 520. Jack White Real Estate receives National Service Award. Jack White Real Estate received the PHH Relocation Service Award at the 1996b PHH Real Estate Network International Conference held in Palm Desert, California this Spring. The Award recognizes the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction for 1995. Jack White is one of two companies in the nation to receive this award.
