TCI Media Services

Stephanie Sprangers and Kurt Sandberg have joined TCI Media Services in the company's Seattle office. Sprangers will develop new business in the Seattle market. Sandberg previously worked as a national sales manager for Brown Broadcasting, where he represented KRWM-FM for national business. TCI also has promoted Sara Breene to national sales manager.

Portland Bagel Bakery

The Portland Bagel Bakery, located in Portland, Ore., in January began shipping bagels to Wendy's restaurants in Japan. The bagels were shipped frozen in a refrigerated container. In Japan, they are served as a breakfast item by Wendy's. Ted Roberts, president of Portland Bagel Bakery, said the Pacific Rim market shows a lot of potential for the company's co-packaged products. Those products are sold under a variety of labels, and are also distributed in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho and Montana.

Police seek office equipment

Donations of office equipment are needed by the Downtown Seattle Association to equip a non-emergency office for the Seattle Police downtown. To be provided by the Bon Marche at the corner of Third and Stewart, the office will provide a workplace for police officers and services for shoppers, workers and residents. In order to complete the office, the following items are needed: a fax machine, a copier, three typewriters, two electronic dictionaries, two dry erase boards, two calculators, two wall clocks, two bookshelves, a conference table and six armless chairs, six armless chairs with wheels, two office supply cabinets, and four full-size lockers. Training on domestic violence at work

A new, free training program called "When Domestic Violence Comes to Work" is now available to King County employers. Developed by the King County Love Shouldn't Hurt Campaign and Intermedia, a local publisher of training materials, the program explains how to determine whether domestic violence is affecting your workplace, what your organization's risks and liabilities are, and which safety measures would be effective. The program includes two videos and a training guide and workbook. For more information or a request form, contact Joyce Glavish at 728-1100. Employers outside of King County can purchase the program through Intermedia (1-800-553-8336) for $695.

Metawave

Redmond-based Metawave Communications Corporation, a provider of products and services to the wireless communications industry, on March 3 announced the formation of Metawave Network Services. The new group will offer engineering and project management services for wireless system implementation. It expands on the work done by Metawave's existing engineering division.

Ability Solutions opens call center

RCH Technical Institute, of Sea-Tac, has opened a new division called Ability Solutions that will operate a 300-person call center in its new 28,000-square-foot facility in Sea-Tac. The new program is part of the institute's mission to train persons with disabilities. It will offer outsourcing services to businesses and industry in the areas of inbound sales, event registration, order filling, inbound technical support and market research. DeLaunay/Phillips

Stacy Hendricks has joined DeLaunay/Phillips Communications, Inc. as an account executive. She was recently named New Member of the Year by the Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Hendricks previously worked at EvansGroup in Seattle. Kim Andersen was promoted from account coordinator to account executive.

The Wooden Boat Shop

Seattle's 20-year-old Wooden Boat Shop, which caters to woodworkers, boatbuilders and boat restorers, has been sold. The new owner is Marty Loken, a longtime "friend and customer" of the store. Before buying The Wooden Boat Shop, Loken had various careers including creative director for Getty Communications, reporter for the Seattle Times, and managing editor of Alaska Magazine. The Wooden Boat Shop is located at 1007 N.E. Boat St., one block east of the University Bridge.
