Alaska Travel Adventures

Alaska Travel Adventures has promoted Christy Austin to manager of reservations. Austin will have overall responsibility for reservations, inventory management, invoicing, air and documentation. Alaska Travel Adventures specializes in tours throughout southeast Alaska and has offices in Juneau and Bellevue.

Stafford Suites

Thelma Kast has been appointed food service supervisor of Stafford Suites, a senior adult assisted-living apartment facility in Kent. Kast formerly served as dietary manager at the Highline Care Center in Burien.

First American Title

Seattle-based First American Title Insurance's vice president and King County Manager Rick Weidenbach has been elected president of the Washington Land Title Association for 1998.

EvansGroup

EvansGroup Public Relations has appointed Steve Bryant executive vice president and chief operating officer for the public relations division of EvansGroup, the national marketing communications firm. Bryant has worked in the Seattle office for 12 years, and will assume responsibility for client service standards and staff development.

Mayflower Park Hotel

Stacia Williams has joined Seattle's Mayflower Park Hotel as director of sales and marketing. Williams previously served in senior sales capacities at the Warwick Hotel and Crowne Plaza Hotel in Seattle.

Renton Technical College

Dean Cooper, employee development manager for the 737/757 division of the Boeing Co., has been elected to the Renton Technical College Foundation Board. Cooper's role at Boeing includes managing pre-employment training and apprenticeship programs, both of which are run, in part, at Renton Technical College.

Travis, Fitzmaurice & Associates

Travis, Fitzmaurice & Associates, Inc. announced that James O. Travis has retired after over 40 years with the firm. Travis, Fitzmaurice & Associates, Inc. is the oldest electrical consulting firm in the Seattle area. It was founded by his father, Beverly A. Travis, over 53 years ago. The company will continue to operate with Gerry Fitzmaurice as president.

LMN

LMN Architects has promoted Curtis Bales to principal and several staff members to the level of associate. New associates include Mark Hinshaw, Erik Indvik, Mary Jensen, Diana Liljelund, Peter Locke, Lily Melchor, Sherrill Myers, Wendy Pautz and Amy Petri. Bales joined LMN in 1990 and has been an associate since 1994. His recent projects include the expansion of the law firm of Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe, and the Rainforest Cafe at Woodland Park Zoo. He is a leader in the firm's corporate programming, design and space planning projects such as Frank Russell Company-Russell Data Services and the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group headquarters, which is currently under construction. Hinshaw worked with LMN as an urban design consultant for several years prior to joining the firm last year as director of urban design. He has over 25 years of experience as an architect, city planner and urban designer, and writes a column on urban design for The Seattle Times. Indvik also joined LMN last year. He was previously an associate with Barton Myers Associates in Los Angeles. Currently, as part of the LMN project team for the Memphis-Cook Convention Center, he is leading the design of a 2,000 seat multi-purpose performance hall. Jensen has been with LMN for six years. She has been instrumental in refining the firm's human resource procedures, an essential contribution as the staff has grown to 120 people. Over the past year, Jensen personally oriented and helped to integrate 60 new employees. Liljelund joined LMN last year following work in Toronto, London and Helsinki during periods of significant urban development. At present, she is providing design leadership for LMN on the AT&T corporate headquarters campus in Redmond, and a mid-rise residential tower in downtown Seattle. Locke joined LMN last year following 20 years of experience in major urban locations such as London, Kuala Lumpur and Los Angeles. Currently, he is project manager for the Seattle Center Opera House redevelopment project and the University of Washington Hec Edmundson Sports Pavilion renovation. Melchor joined LMN last year as director of interior design. She is currently overseeing the interior design of Benaroya Hall. Myers brings more than 25 years of experience to LMN Architects as a national leader in the design of theaters, performing arts facilities, cultural facilities and large scale urban design projects. Prior to joining the firm in 1997, he was the architect responsible for the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, and the Skylight Opera Theater. Over the past year at LMN, he has worked on the Seattle Opera House Renovation Study, and the Seattle Children's Theater Technical Pavilion. Pautz, who has been responsible for a series of projects on the east coast before joining the firm in 1996, assisted in the successful completion of a custom hangar and several performing arts projects including the Seattle Opera House renovation study. She is currently working on the Wenatchee Performing Arts Center. Petri is director of client services at LMN Architects and has been a marketing employee since joining the firm in 1993. With her marketing involvement, the firm has been awarded projects that include the Washington State Convention and Trade Center expansion, the Seattle Opera House renovation, and the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group's headquarters office building.

W&H Pacific

Gene Warden has joined the Bellevue office of W&H Pacific to oversee project management. He has over 25 years experience in the management of site design, land development and construction.

Nelson-Bourdages

Corby H. Howell has been promoted to project manager at Nelson-Bourdages of Kirkland. Howell, who has been a project engineer with the firm for four years, recently completed civil engineering work on the Monaco Hotel in Seattle, site development for the 20-acre Kla-Mo-Ya casino near Klamath Falls, and stormwater management and grading for the Scatter Creek Silica Quarry in King County. Nelson-Bourdages is a division of the Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc., which has main offices in Bowling Green, Ohio, and Las Vegas.

Architekton

Scott Johnson has joined the staff of Architekton as systems administrator. He comes from Notkin Engineering, Inc. where he was the CAD/Network Manager. Eshean T. Butler has joined Architekton as a CAD specialist for the retail design group. Eshean most recently worked for RHL Design as a CAD technician. Robin Macias has joined the firm as an intern CAD specialist. She is completing her degree in Computer-Aided Drafting Technology at the ITT Technical Institute in Seattle.

Bush Roed & Hitchings

Steve Adermann has joined Bush Roed & Hitchings after two years at W&H Pacific, and has been appointed construction survey manager. He is currently working on the Bellevue Galleria, the Courtyard off Main in Bellevue, and the West Precinct for the Seattle Police Department. Sooji Knight has joined the company as a marketing and administrative assistant.

CDi

CDi Mechanical Engineers of Lynnwood has made several additions to its staff. Joseph Llona has joined the firm as a project manager and is currently working on the McChord Air Force Base Clinic and the University of Washington Bothell campus. Victoria Yaros has joined the firm as business manager. Peter Arthursson and James Grimm are new mechanical designers with CDi, and Judy Wehe and Mark Peeples are new CAD designers.

Berger/ABAM

Patty Walker has joined Berger/ABAM as an administrative clerk. She comes from the law firm Buckley & Associates. Garry Hagness has joined the firm as a graphic designer. He was previously with CH2M Hill.

Thompson Vaivoda

Thompson Vaivoda & Associates of Portland has added four new members to the staff. Accountant Ellen Hynson will administer business activities. Project manager Joe Tucker will manage projects for the firm's theater cinema team, and intern Dan McFarland will help in the design and building of models for the firm's various projects. Sandi Bruce has been hired as a marketing assistant.

Graham & James/Riddell Williams

Robert Amkraut, William W. Barker, Trilby Dorn, Jeffrey J. Greene, and Samual C. Steinbach have joined Graham & James/Riddell Williams as associates. Graham & James is located in Seattle, and merged in 1996 with Riddell Williams Bullitt & Walkinshaw.

Excell Data

H. Carvel Moore has been promoted to president of Excell Data Corp., a Bellevue-based information technology services company. Moore previously served as executive vice president and a member of Excell's board of directors. Excell's services include software application development, contract consulting, network computing and technical support.

Preston Gates & Ellis announced eight new associates and one of counsel have joined the firm in the Seattle, Los Angeles and Orange County offices. The of counsel appointment is Kathleen O. Peterson, focusing on employment law and intellectual property in Orange County. Joseph C. Crane, Teresa C. W. Ho, and Laura D. Murtagh have joined the Los Angeles office. Matthew Stoddard Topham, Stacey Crawshaw Lewis, Ann H. Whitmore, Christopher J. Breunig, and Robert Ferguson have joined the Seattle offices.

Resource Management Technologies

Resource Management Technologies has opened new offices at 1155 N. State St., Suite 316, Bellingham. Resource Management Technologies specializes in mapping services, geographic information systems, airborne videography, LIDAR, remote sensing and global positioning systems.

DPR

The Seattle office of DPR Construction Inc. has added John Gilson as a project manager and Jeff Van Sickle as an estimator. Gilson has over 15 years of experience in all phases of construction management. He holds a degree in building management from the University of Washington and is a certified project management professional. Van Sickle has more than 13 years of industry experience and graduated from the former Building Construction Department at the University of Washington.

RCI

Three new division presidents were recently appointed at RCI Construction Group in Sumner. Andrew Albrecht is the new president of Robison Construction Inc., Peter B. Wold of RCI Environmental Inc. and Ralph Mason of RCI Civil & Industrial Inc. In his new position, Albrecht will focus on utility and earthwork construction. He holds an administration and finance degree from Central Washington University. Wold will focus on development of RCI Environmental's radioactive cleanup work for the federal government. He holds a civil engineering degree from the University of Washington. Mason will continue to focus on wastewater and water treatment, while pioneering a new direction in marine and hydroelectric projects. He was a partner in Venture Construction Co. for 19 years.

Edward Ledger

Air-Lec Industries of Madison, Wis., has selected Edward Ledger Industrial Sales of Seattle to represent its line of high-speed automatic door operators. The company claims the openers reduce contamination and heating/cooling costs for warehouses by rapidly opening and closing outside doors.
